Corrupt Translation Machine

The songs are simple, but the deep level of emotion is not something so easily accomplished. At times, it makes me yearn for something more…maybe even something better than I have. At other times, it makes me a bit sad to settle for what I have, which is my truth. Maybe through, it’s not so bad? As the album fades away, I make a vow that I will box that feeling of longing and throw away the key.

I think it’s safe to say that the album was a bit of a disappointment for me, but like any album, you should listen to it with an open mind and decide for yourself.

Mean Bone

I’ll say that traditional Doom fans should be wary of BUZZARD and “Mean Bone”, whilst Folk lovers with a wide angle lens and other more adventurous music lovers will be able to understand and therefore enjoy what is passing through your ears into that massive underused grey matter we call our brain.

Of course, these guys aren’t changing the Metal world or even trying to be the band that sets new standards, but they are unmistakably trying to impress the hell out of anyone who will take the time to listen what they have top offer on “No Regrets”. And in that respect, they are succeeding in more songs than I would have thought possible when I started to listen to INHERITED.

The Lord Weird Slough Feg

THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG makes their music in a way that it will transport you back to the eighties, as their brand of Heavy Metal is heavily reliant on that era. Thankfully they have been able to update their production in such a manner that that hasn’t been stuck in the past. It is very contemporary, without losing the authentic retro feel that really sums up the sound of THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG.

Whatever you might think of compilation albums that are tributes to the past, it is a fact that this is a sure fired way to pique the interest of the people interested, who will take the time and have a good listen. And through this medium, ROXXCALIBUR’s album “NWOBHM From The Vaults”, they will go and look if they can locate the originals, be it physical or digital.

Rivers of Nihil

The album registers as a bold and ferocious entry into the realm of Progressive Death Metal that marries unrelenting aggression with a structural intelligence rare in the genre. It is a balancing act between chaos and calculation…a sound that never loses its teeth, even as it brushes against moments of eerie melody and intricate musicianship. In a landscape crowded with brutality for brutality’s sake, this album is a fusion of relentless death metal ferocity, progressive ambition, and melodic sensibility. It’s the sound of a band not afraid to push, twist, and mold their aggression into forward progress. It's evolution with its fists still clenched.

Chasing Euphoria

Hooks for days…that is what the album does best. The band also has a strong sense of musicianship and use of harmony in the backing tracks. As I recently had a discussion with my daughter about, these things sound sugary on the ears, but they are hard to compose properly. The band once again is firing on all cylinders here on “Chasing Euphoria.”

With strong songwriting, great production values, and impeccable execution, “Uumen” definitely lives into its title and goes deep.

“Certesia” makes for an interesting listen that’s likely to appeal to Theatrical Metal fans more than Goth Metal.

The band are talented and have filled out the background of the music with enough qualities to make it sound rich, and full. The album has power, melody, and is carried by a great singer. There is a lot to like here.

Get ready to test everything you think you might know about blackgaze/shoegaze, or music in general, because “Pythagoras” from PYRAMIDS is one of the most uniquely pleasing albums that I have heard in a while, genres notwithstanding. It stretches conventional boundaries so far, they threaten to snap. There is a bite here as sharp as a viper’s fangs, but I am content to just let the melodies wash over me in the waves that they come.

Overall, this was both a thick and gross album, in every good sense of that final word. The best part is the level of confidence that the band plays with…you can tell, they have no fucks to give if you don’t like it. It is in your face, straightforward Metal bruising, with a few interesting twists along the way.

Overall, this was an excellent album within the Symphonic Death Metal genre. The production was excellent, and the band didn’t fall into the trap of pushing four identical songs for the listener, but rather they varied the presentations. There is plenty of brutality, no doubt about that, and they could plow through your worst nightmare. But the band chose to do things with taste.

The Melancholic Charm Of The Moon

Overall, this was a pleasing album. Although the production could have been better, its raw qualities are common in the genre, and to keep the album within the confines of the past. There were some ghostly moments here, and this one will keep you up at night, with bad dreams.

DEATHOX deliver a promising second album and Thrash Metal fans will be happy with that what is offered on “Hallucinations”

The album shows a lot of promise, but is not quite there yet. The band twists the bottom end with skilled hands, warping it into instruments of torture and death. The clean vocals however can come off a bit too gentle, and the roar of the harsh vocals are their best bet of the two.

On the spectrum for AOR, this is on the gentler side…like JOURNEY, but without some of big cinematic moments or crashing crescendos. The songs are quite pleasing as well, although as an album it lacks a big punch.
