Lifted From The Wind

Besides this release can be hard to some to deal with due its long songs, the band shows a very good work, indeed.

Isvind
Svart Vinter
This wasn’t a bad album…it’s Black Metal, inspired by the FWOBM forefathers who came before them, and with some modern touches. However, some of the songs blended together a bit too much, and that is my chief complaint here. It created just a mediocre listening experience for me.

We, The Dead
Helllight
This was a fantastic album that made you feel many things as a listener…sad, hopeless, grieving…even a deep rage and anger at times as to the unfairness of life. It begs the question for me that if there is a higher being, how come there is so much suffering down here? Answer that when you have a few free years to ponder the intricacies, but enjoy this album now.
Through Pain
Prophets Tomb
This album was filthy, sludgy, and sounded like it came from the swaps of Louisiana. Besides the sheer weight of their sound, which is noteworthy, they were also able to work in some supporting elements that gave the album depth. It wasn’t overly complicated, but just enough, to keep the listener on their toes, and provide some sugar that they want to come back for.
A Hole Beneath the Home we Shared
Low Beneath The Breeze
This was a disturbing album, and I mean that in a few ways…disturbing because of the images it brought forth, disturbing in the way the music personified torture, and disturbing to think that this came from the minds of the quartet. But, I love music that is outside of the box, and music that is vivacious and vital, and that is what this album was for me.
Songs from the Restless Oblivion
Memories of a Lost Soul
I haven’t heard this many elements packed into a Metal band in some time. Some might call the effort overly-ambitious, and there are some phasing issues here and there, but it’s a solid album. There is enough diversity in sound to reel in some new fans, as well as enough tradition to keep the older fans satisfied.
Endless Thoughts
Rickert G.
The songs on “Endless Thoughts” have body, soul and feelings galore, and the way that RICKERT G. has put his compositions together makes a whole lot of sense. It makes for almost 42 minutes of very divers and exciting Metal.
Desert Claw
Neuroblade
With all the info that was with the NEUROBLADE music it didn’t mention anywhere whether these guys will ever be playing live or if they will keep on making music together under this name. I really do hope they will answer yes to both questions, because I have a feeling that it will blow the audience away when they are on stage. And I am sure that if they improve and ripen with age, NEUROBLADE could grow into a force of its own. They have made a really impressive start with “Desert Claw”.
The Toll Remains The Same
Goot
This is bloody good music by a very pleasant sounding band. What they play is Melodic Heavy Metal that acquires and it has gotten a very powerful sound.
Gate Of GaiaBeta
GaiaBeta
Let me start by saying that what you will hear has been done before by many other bands, and GAIABETA has just decided to give the music their own twist. What does help with the musical genre they are playing is having a good and crystal clear sound. In that respect I simply cannot fault anything on “Gate Of GaiaBeta”.
In Penitence and Ruin
Tribunal
TRIBUNAL’s “In Penitence and Ruin” is so good that I’m going to have to spend my own money to buy their first album, “The Weight of Remembrance,” which kind of pisses me off because free music is half the reason I got into this review writing gig.
Blod & Ild
Helheim
"Blod & Ild" got a lot of attention when it first came out, and deservedly so. Whether you somehow get hold of the vinyl before it’s gone or you just download the digital like the rest of mortals, it’s still a hell of an album.
Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State
Katatonia
As the first album without one of the founding members, the band has forged ahead. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention some of traditions from Anders are missing, but good bands find ways to work past departures. For long time fans, there are a few surprises, but the core of what you love is still there. The newer approach may also bring with it some new fans. Their signature sound of bleak resonance and bleeding density are still very much alive.
River Red
Thurifer
This album has a little something for everyone…crushing Metal tones, melody, darkness, and fleeting moments of hope. The combination of both clean and harsh vocals add depth to the album as well, and this EP is just enough of a tease to get my juices flowing.

Overall, this wasn’t a bad album per se, and keep in mind that it is a one-man band. It just failed to excite me as a listener, and that is the bottom line.

Ekstasis of Subterranean Currents
Thantorean
This is an evil album in every sense of that word. The band smartly distanced themselves from their peers by choosing a deeper production instead of the overly treble production we often hear in the genre, as well as thick, meaty bass notes that give them album depth. Combined with twisted, wicked vocals, and we get the soundtrack for torture and death.
Exo Escapism
Neurotech
In a landscape crowded with genre hybrids that often lean too far into excess or restraint, this is a rare achievement: an album that feels physically heavy without ever surrendering its melodic soul. It’s music made of metal and mist—where industrial-weight electronics and punishing riffs grind against your chest while smooth, celestial vocals float above. The songs are meticulously constructed: verses draw you in with layered synthwork and eerie calm, only to erupt into choruses that balance monolithic riffs with earworm hooks. There’s an understanding here of dynamics, of emotional escalation. You don’t just hear the songs—you’re pulled through them. In short, it doesn’t ask you to choose between power and polish. It gives you both. It’s the sound of machinery dreaming. A storm with a lullaby stitched into its eye.
Tutta La Morte In Un Solo Punto
Noise Trail Immersion
“Tutta La Morte In Un Solo Punto” doesn’t knock—it kicks the door off its hinges and storms in bloodied, teeth bared, yet terrifyingly composed. This is not the chaos of tantrums or mindless fury—this is precision rage, channeled just enough to keep the machinery from self-destructing. It represents the sound of control barely holding, and is a monument to pressure, violence, and the beauty of not quite falling apart.
Kur
ANZV
Although many of the songs have a similar sound, there is enough to distinguish them from one another. One thing that struck me hard about the album is that there is a thick, black darkness that runs through every song. It’s like a poison that spreads to all surrounding tissue.
The Ascent & The Hunger
Palantyr
This French Speed Metal/Heavy Metal act changed its name, but it's very good work is still the same.
