Yearning - Frore Meadow album cover

And here is the third opus album of the full of inspiration Finnish band, Yearning. Frore Meadow is a journey through multicoloured atmospheres ranging from sweet melancholic tunes to an arcane esoteric state of experimentation. The songs are built on unique harmonic structures and it seems the band was influenced by symphonic and progressive areas of music this time. The songs are all quite depressing (yuppie hehe) with vocalchoirs that get very sorrowful, theatral and mighty too. Some are a bit fast (like Bleak for example) but most of them are something between gothic (with lots of samples) and black (but certainly not Dimmu Borgir hehehe).

Frankly I don't listen much to this kind of music even though I find it very interesting. I mean just listen to Disappearance from the album, it's one big sample flow but it still is interesting even though there are no vocals or electric guitars or anything. Therefore I take it that the main difference with their previous albums is that this one includes mostly clean vocals, a lot of samples and a more progressive style of aproaching our ears. And you can figure out the more progressive style by paying a bit attention to the drums on the album, especially in the name song of the album (Frore Meadow) which by the way has no vocals as well. What is pretty impressing is the album's cover drawn by Jean Pascal Fournier. The word Frore is an old poetic word for cold or frozen and the whole album represents a kind of frozen inner landscape (as you can see on the cover). By my opinion the three most representative songs of this album are Bleak, Elegy Of Blood and Disappearance which for me show a weird in a way type of mutation (completed in three stages). The mutation of our deep, cold inned world..and..oh..I got carried away again 😛

So, fans of experimentation and weird dreaming I guess this is indeed an album for your ears...enjoy it (oh go get depressed again...geez)...
