Coming to us from Chile is a phenomenal Blackened Death Metal band called XUL OY KVLTEN and their second release "Entropic Increase from the Omega Aeon". This band is as heavy and intricate as they come. From the first note until the last you will be entranced by how amazing this band is. The members of the band are Amon on Guitars and Bass, Xul on Vocals and C.I.R.R. on drums. They are definitely masters of their craft and they show it throughout the entirety of this album. So let's get going on this epic adventure and listen to what I consider a masterpiece.
Up first we have the song "Ascend Pathos Signis Dómini" which hits immediately and will blow out your speakers if you're not careful. They honestly remind me of a mixture of BEHEMOTH and KEEP OF KALESSIN which is a fucking great mix. This song is full of dark atmosphere and just a pure evil sound. I absolutely recommend this song to everyone who enjoys Black, Death and Atmospheric Metal. "Destroying the Lamb Instinct" is up next and it is just as insane as the previous track. The musicianship in this album is outstanding. Honestly you normally wouldn't expect such great musicianship and production on a bands second album usually, but this album is an exception.
"Entropic Increase from the Omega Aeon" is the longest song on the album sitting at just over eight minutes long. Now usually songs that are this long can become stale and it takes a lot of work to stay fresh, and this song stays fresh. The change ups are pretty seamless on top of it all which is amazing. This is one of my favorites on the album by far. "Quintessence" actually changes it up a bit and sounds a little less dark but it is still brooding. If I had to describe this song with one word it would have to be "Epic". There is something about this track that just caught my attention in the best way possible.
"Tanatophilic Manifestation" is by far the hardest hitting song so far and it will definitely get your blood pumping. It made me want to spin my head around like in the movie the exorcist. It's brutal yet very evil sounding. It's so rare to find such a young band that is this good. I am absolutely enthralled to be able to listen to this album. There are four more songs on the album, but I am going to skip to the final song and let you listen to the rest on your own because they're all amazing. The last track is "Iconoclastic Nihilismus" and it is an absolutely wonderful ending to such a kick ass album. I feel like given time, this band will rise up from the pits of hell and be a front runner in the world of extreme metal. I am really happy I got this one to review and it's a great album to review this close to the end of the year. Great job guys, keep up the wonderful work!
