Wytchfynde - The Awakening album cover

Wytchfynde were born from the ashes of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal legends Witchfynde. Due to legal complications, vocalist Luther Beltz has been forced to alter slightly the name of the band.

'The Awakening' brings back the NWOBHM sound to our ears. The feeling of this era is so strong on this album, that even the production is almost as shallow as it used to be back then. I say 'almost', because the sound of the bass and the drums is strong and clear (This is a pleasant surprise for a rhythm-section lover, as I am). 'The Awakening' features 11 heavy songs with strong riffs. In my opinion the greatest moments of this release are the Vampyre's Tale, To The Devil A Daughter (which strongly reminds early Judas Priest) and the Ghost Dancer. The only drawback is the slow/atmospheric parts which sound kinda boring especially in the Arken Asylum song.

To conclude, the band proved incontestably, that they stayed true to their metal roots and the fans of the early 80's should definitely check this album.
