Panspermic Warlords

The foundation of this album is based on the theory of panspermia, which in itself has no basis in science whatsoever. The theory assumes that all life in the universe stems from the same origin. As such, life was spread throughout the universe either by stardust, meteorites or even spaceships. This album deals with the idea that all life was intentionally spread throughout the universe by an alien species. The war cast of the species has been traversing space for millions of years in giant spaceships, while lying dormant in cryogenic sleep. These "panspermic warlords" plant their seed of life on uninhabited planets. This act is not conducted with noble intentions, but rather for the sole purpose of inhabiting as much of the universe as possible with their seed. In this way, the creation of life is equated to an act of war. The people and civilizations that are born of this process are thus exposed to an existence that is inherently futile." The album has seven songs.
"Dormant They Drift" is the first. The opening tones are dissonant, and the vocals are guttural. There are also some Progressive elements in the structure of the song, as well as some eerie background elements. "Destroyer of the Promethean Path" is a ten-minute song. It has a slower and more grinding pace at first, but it picks up soon thereafter. Much of the guitar work is deeply dissonant, but they are able to connect some melodies here and there, which are harrowing in scope. There is also a good deal of texture in the song. "Solar Harvest" features some harrowing clean vocals to go along with the deadly sound. The song is more "alive," in that it sounds like the aliens are actively populating various planets in the universe.
"Summoning the Meteoric Titans" is an instrumental segue piece, with just enough frightening background sounds to catch a glimpse of the alien's evil and nefarious plan. "Supreme Leader of a Dying Star" is more desolate in nature, and a weighted dissonance hangs in the guitar work. That mid-section is all about atmosphere, and as it plays, your consciousness expands to the enormity of the universe. "The Weeping of a Blazing Rock" is a little more traditional Black Metal in the sense of the rolling drums and wall of riffs. The subtle Progressive elements leave the listener on the edge of their seat, unsure what is coming next. The title track closes the album. It's a lively combination of harrowing elements and dissonant ones, and tension hangs high in the air, leaving the conclusion somewhat mysterious.
Overall, I found that this album was a solid representation of the subject matter and had plenty of mysteries within. The music was harrowing, and dissonant, creating an atmospheric result which kept me engaged in the album. Take a dive into the frightening world that is "Panspermic Warlods" by WYRGHER.
