Bullshit
Wolfspirit
Wolvespirit are a female fronted band from Würzburg Germany Since they formed in 2011 they have experimented with different styles on the past releases. ”Bullshit” is their seventh album released on their own record rebel , on which Wolvespirit go into fake reports and misleading information in today's digital world. The band have a new female member in the band welcoming Silly Lenzschau on bass. The band has managed to gain a fan base after going on tour with Uriah Heap and Spiritual Beggars.
So Wolvespirit not a band I have come across before ,not familiar with their past albums ,so “Bullshit” is my introduction to the band. ”Titanium” after the keyboard intro at the start launches into a mid paced heavy feeling to the track ,which has a classic metal sound with some modern injection in parts.” Robots” is a very much modern metal track with Debby Craft in the verses vocally almost like a rap ,some fantastic ,heavy guitar riffs with groove & an edgy solo. ”Bullshit” hits hard from the off with mellower breaks with a heavy hard hitting chorus. Meaty riffs ,a tight rhythm section with some keys in parts make “Dragon Age” a catchy modern metal track, vocally Debby Craft changes her style, ”Fire” is a short, heavy, atmospheric dramatic track.”Braineater” has another heavy melody driven track with a symphonic feel but vocally I didn't really like the style and on ”Starbound” more melodic is less heavy than other tracks but Debby Craft sounds like she is struggling vocally despite the harmonies for back up.”666” is a very cliché track which putting in bluntly is not great. ”The Joker” a bonus track is one of the best tracks on the whole album a heavy track with organ shimmers, and the vocals are good too.
I found “Bullshit” a bit of a hard listen at times, there was some tight guitar riffs ,solos and the rhythm section was tight so musically it was good overall. I was just put off by the vocals at times which I don't know if they were this style on purpose or just weak in general, but I just didn't feel they didn't do the majority of songs justice . I'm afraid this album was not for me, nothing special, just an average album it wasn't bullshit but it didn't smell of roses either.
