Wolfs Moon - Unholy Darkness album cover

This band has already released its sixth album and I do not have a 'whereabouts' clue! With three different labels in the past, they have now signed to the noteworthy Pure Steel Records label and - for those familiar with Pure Steel - it'd quite obvious WOLFS MOON step on Heavy/Power stones. But what about quality?
Phewwww...the cover artwork is quite good and rational, the band plays true at heart and the songtitles are rather 'Metal'. But...the production and the tunes themselves do not possess that something worth the notice. Even if they've been around for more than 15 years, I'd dare saying I would expect something more 'convincing' from a quartet that - I repeat - will surely win your ears with their honest performance.
Their blend is quite adolescent Heavy, with enough aggression and speed (double bass drumming included) while they do sound '80s evil' or on-the-edge Thrash sporadically. Some riffs are well-worked and Pasemann's 'violent' voice ties well with the music. The production is another thumbs down sector, with some irritating snare drum sound and not enough volume for such a metallic aim.
The legacy of ACCEPT, the malice of GRAVE DIGGER, some 00's 'true' Metal passages of the 80s heroes (who can recall MAJESTY?), a taste of IRON MAIDEN's raw moments...what else? Listening again to the album, the guitars really offer a good lesson of metallic fury, but nothing more I'd end up praising. I really hope there'll be (or has been - have not heard any past albums by WOLFS MOON) some better total result from this quartet in the future. The band has the potential, that's obvious.
