Formed back in 2012 in Singapore we have WICHSEEKER who play hard and fast while paying homage to the sound of 80's metal. "Scene of the Wild" marks their new album which is released into the world on March 26th 2021. This album also marks their first album as a 4 piece since new member Nicholas Stormbringer joined the band. So kicking things off we have the title track "Scene of the Wild" and it does start off wild. Right from the start you get a very 80's feel to it and it makes for a fun listen. This one is full of killer riffs, blistering solos and really sets up the tone of the album.
Next up we have "Rock this Night Away" which opens with an evil sounding riff as the bass rumbles over the song. The song builds to a big sounding chorus which you can sing along to and an epic sounding guitar solo that really lifts the song up. This is a great song.
After that we have "Lust for Dust". This is a very old school thrash song which sounds very similar to singing that would appear on METALLICA'S "Kill'em All" album. This is a song that will totally open up the mosh pits with its great riffing and guitar solo. This is also complete with a sleazy chorus and an IRON MAIDEN style harmony to it. We get some real thrash metal madness with the track "Be Quick or be Dead" as this is another mosh pit starter. It has a great sing along chorus and a ripping guitar solo as the drums are thundering throughout.
We also have the track "Sin City" which is about hitting the town and looking for a good time. It has simple but rocking riffs to it. The breakdown builds to something big and then we get these epic sounding guitar solo trade off and even a bass solo. Really worth checking out. The latest single to be released is "Break Away" and it has a very MOTORHEAD feel to it. It has a very in your face chorus to it with the vocal delivery. The middle section here is full of killer guitar riffs and some great lead guitar work. The song "Candle on the Dark" stands out here a little bit. It has an epic yet powerful intro to it which transcends into a clean verse. It is here that the vocals really shows his range as this is a metal ballad of sorts but with heavy guitar riffs added in for good measure and guitar solos that command to be heard.
Here we have the final track on the album with "Hellions in the Night" and with this one the band are going out with a bang. This track is pure thrash metal. From listening to this one you can hear that the band is on fire here as they kick your ass one last time. "Scene of the Wild" is a very fun album to listen to and with it WITCHSEEKER really pays homage to the sounds of the 80's metal bands cause you can really hear their influences on this. One thing that is very noticeable is that loud and heavy bass sound throughout, it could of had a bit of a smoother sound to it but it makes for the polar opposite to METALLICA'S..."And Justice for All" album (which we all know has virtually no bass at all on it). But this is still full of killer guitar riffs, great solos and catchy choruses that will keep you hooked and the vocal style fits really well with their sound and approach. This is a really great album.
