Witchgrave - Self-Titled album cover

WITCHGRAVE is a new comer, as far as metal bands go, hailing from Växjö, Sweden with a killer new album coming out on High Roller Records this coming February. Their debut album is growling mix of Doom Metal and Hard Rock, with driving riffs and some pretty cool dual guitar work. Joakim Norberg's vocals overshadow the rest of the music, so they can be a bit distracting. But, maybe that's what they were aiming for, and I'm lame and missing something. There is a first time for everything.

I listened to the album twice, and really my overall feeling was.. blah. No tracks stood out, the recording seemed rather flat, and nothing reached out and punched me in the throat. There is plenty of potential in this band, and I am sure you will be hearing more from them. However, as far as a rating goes, I'd say 7 out of 10. Until next time friends, stay well and live free. Cheers!
