Formed in 2012, the Swedish band arrives at their second Full-lengh-album entitled "Månsken" after one demo and three singles. The fresh work was produced by "Dying Victims Productions", which has been very busy this year producing good work mainly in the genres of Speed and Heavy Metal. The sound brought by WITCH BLADE members simply and directly remind of bands like Diamond Head except for the themes linked to Witches, Darkness, Evil, the vocals in Swedish language. The first song is "Skuggornas Herre" which shows a very raw old and classical European HM from end of 70's and beginning of 80´s that can be felt on the drumbeats and riffs, bounded to their references, the clean vocal is pleasant to hear. "Månsken" that bears the album's name, reveals a certain thriller atmosphere through its rhythm.
Moving on we have "Vittrorna Kommer" and "Hellvetika", and although both relying on a faster time, in my opinion, here the band already begins to show signs of tiredness, despite having some good elements such as the striking choruses, the variation can hardly be felt between them, and so follows for most of the rest of the album, sure we have something faster here, other slower there, but, in general the impression that I had was to listen to the same song for a long, long time, even if "Slavarnas Hämnd" try to stand out from the rest, with some interesting stretches eventually returning to the same comfort zone that the trio has already gone through.
I know that it is quite difficult for some band to stand out in this gender, for so many years of it exploration, and we know that there is very little room for innovative things, and I also know that is probably not the proposal of the band, but there is room for a little more originality and variety here. Nothing is so good and not so bad, making tedium imposes over excitement. However, if you like Heavy Metal very much this time and can't listen to other songs of the genre, I could indicate WITCH BLADE.
