New Clear Power

In the last couple of years, having seen and heard WEAPON play their music, I felt they were getting softer and slower, more easy listening. I saw them play live and listened to their 2019 album "Ghosts Of War", and frankly spoken, I was disappointed. Only when they relished themselves in their old mindset were they able to sound impressive. The band that acquired world-wide praise with their anthem "Set The Stage Alight" in 1980 was coming to an end, was my thought. Well, these guys from London, UK, have proven me wrong in many ways on "New Clear Power".
First thing I have to mention is that with the title of "New Clear Power", they really have used a brilliant play of words. But, if you ask me, they could just as easily named this Nuclear Power, as it sounds as if the band have rediscovered their mojo. They sound fresh, enthusiastic and full of oomph! this ROCKS! This does take you back to the forementioned anthem and the buzz that this created.
And you know what, for a band that has been around, for many a year, they sound like newlyweds on their honeymoon. Yes, I do realise that WEAPON has been dormant for more than twenty years before they reformed in 2005, but still. To be able to produce such powerful rhythms and riffs at their age only shows that these guys have never stopped playing, even when it was in other bands.
What I also need to address it how cohesive it all sounds, how homogenic "New Clear Power" is when you listen to it. Every song is easily distinguishable, but they also all have the same kind of vibe and sound, making them fit together like those honeymooners I mentioned earlier. It makes listening to "New Clear Power" in order to review it properly quite an enjoyable task. And I will admit that I am gladly swallowing my pride and accepting the fact that WEAPON are back with a vengeance. And the way they have achieved that is not only good, it is bloody impressive. WEAPON is another example of bands of yonder that can come back and impress us reviewers as well as you listeners. Because I hope that you do remember, that I am a fan of Heavy Metal, however critical I might be at times. Well, there's no need for that this time. WEAPON has given us a jewel called "New Clear Power". Please treasure it a s much as I am doing right now.
