The album you are about to read about clashes together many different styles of music in so many great ways! You have death metal power, heavy metal melody, and the rhythmic style of electronic and industrial metal. WAVES OF DECAY in their new album BURN YOUR ANGEL WINGS have added a great album to the world of metal. Their uniqueness surely holds it's own in the music world and make this album something that you should at least give a chance because it could turn out to be something you never knew that you needed.
In the beginning we are led into things with the song "The Shape of Your Own Blood". This song starts off with the sounds of a synth that break away into a heavy volume of guitars. Once the lyrics are brought in by the lead singer you are able to hear the sounds of melody in his voice. Throughout the song it holds onto the deep and dark feel that is ever so prevalent in the death metal world. Holding onto some of those same tones we are led to the next song on the list "Accustomed to the Dark" where there is a nice and mellow synth sound intro that is completely blown away once the music opens up. Breaking into a rhythmic death metal masterpiece.
"F.I.N.E." is the name of the track that you are in store for next, and it starts off with a heavy and fast intro. Guitar and drums blaring through your speakers that eventually break way into the powerful voice of the lead singer. Leaving the heaviness in place, this song drives its lyrics into your ears with the sheer power of the music driving them. Using the unique blend of styles throughout the in order to punctuate on the talent of the group. Following this heaviness is a song that is rightfully titled "Angered". In a whole, this song holds onto the overall power that the album has in it's death metal style, but it brings a heavy sense of melody as the song runs its course.
As you continue you hit the song "Catch-22" which displays the talents of the group to display a true sense of melody within their music. Giving the listener the knowledge that when it comes to a wide range of musical talents, this group sure knows how to display theirs. This is shown through them still holding onto that death metal edge throughout a song that holds so much melody within itself.
If you are looking for an album that is going to tickle a wide range of your metal needs that you need to look no further than this! WAVES OF DECAY is a group that will surely only continue to progress as they further find their own personal style, although I would say they have already found an exact style, further progression is always possible!
