Ward XVI are from the North West Of England who have grown a reputation for their theatrical performances that infuse engrossing visuals with dark story telling. The gruesome band tell the story of Psychoberrie and retrace her steps through by using a blend of drama,music and puppetry.Ward XVI draw their inspiration from bands such as Iron Maiden,Alice Cooper and more modern metals acts such as Ghost and Skindred. The band have established themselves act in the rock and metal scene where they bring their stage show to the club circuit and also larger festival stages such as Bloodstock.”Id3ntity” is part of a trilogy series which is the stunning conclusion of Psychoberrie's story based on a sordid tale that's been ten blood soaked years in the telling!

Having not heard the first two albums in this trilogy of concept albums which  I will have to check out at some point to hear Psychoberrie's full story from beginning to end . The intro of news headlines filters through my speakers to “Regeneration” which then bursts into a modern industrial metal sound which has hypnotic vocals,dark melodies sounding very sinister,with great guitar work towards the end of the track .”Into The Wilderness” with the choir led intro adds an epic atmospheric touch to this dramatic symphonic metal style track.”Macabaret” has heavy guitar riffs & solos,heavy drums with some big horns blaring with some big harmonies & vocals make this track a nightmarish spectacle.”Blood Is The New Black” is just straight forward heavy melody led track with those industrial synth touches with Psychoberrie's hoarse & snarling vocals.

”I Spit On Your Grave”,”Darkest Desire” and “Amoeba Of Madness” along with the eerie interludes in between the 3 tracks are where Psychoberrie's story comes to a climax which is heard through the story telling lyrics at times in a dramatic despairing fashion,which is blended together with some heavy/melodic musical passages that make this album a very theatrical affair of fear & horror with “We Are Legion” a modern metal track with some cool synth touches bringing this story & trilogy of albums to a epic ending and finale. “Id3ntity” is a great concept album,well created, which is powerful musically & vocally. A spectacle and epic conclusion to a great story told through music which I will have to start from the first chapter! I would love to see this played out live as I imagine it will be a visual spectacle of horror and gore.”Id3ntity” is out on Earache Records on 11^th July.
