WARBELL, a female fronted band, brings us their third release the full-length album, "Plague". It was released on September 13, 2019. WARBELL is a band whose female front brings us some extremely harsh vocals, backed by BLOODY'S Pawel Szczypka sometimes melodic and sometimes harsher background vocals. Hard to believe those growls come from a woman sometimes. She rocks your socks right off! Meet Gigi, the powerhouse behind those vocals, as well as writer of songs and videos. The band comes from Jelenia Gora, Poland, and their first LP was released in 2013.

"Dualmind" - "Hear the story of your life... Of your eternal life! / Hear the story of your mind... of your eternal lies! / Day! It never comes back..." These vocals do not leave you lacking in any way of metal, in combination with the entirety of its melodic glory. A song that begs us to consider what our last days may consist of.  "Everystorm" - Has a very classic set of guitar riffs to intro us to. Followed by Gigi powerful voice and existentially written lyrics. I think I'm a little obsessed with her voice. But in my research to write this review, I find that I am not the only one who is. "The Fallen" - This song has a super soft melody to begin and lush, soft vocals by Gigi, married to a guitar made in heaven. Then BLOODY'S background vocals kick in with some achingly lilting lyrics. Then when this song has built its intended emotional reaction, it bursts forth into that devilishly harsh metal sound again.

"Flames of Truth" - Get your power-metal, ready to headbang stance on. Because this song starts fast and heavy and keeps you there. This song has it all, from the fast drums beats to guitar/bass guitar that will make your heart race with its forceful currents. "Icaros" - "Icaro (Quechua: ikaro) is a South American indigenous colloquialism for magic song. Today, the term is commonly used to describe medicine songs performed in vegetal ceremonies, especially by shamans in ayahuasca ceremonies." To quote Wikipedia. Interesting choice of a name for the song to start. May all the light within me embrace all the bounty of nature's glorious spiritual medicines she provides. So not only does this song have an awesome name, true to itself it has this melodic and hardcore death metal sound throughout. This is my favorite song on the album. "The Passenger" - A song whose first chords bring to mind a few guitar chords I've heard THE EAGLES play. However, don't let its soft beginnings fool you. This song unfolds, as a soft flower petal to begin, into the prickly cactus of hardcore metal underneath. It is this combination of soft and hard that I particularly like about melodic death metal.

This whole album has been a pleasure to review. Each song well written and put together in a way that has artistic flow to it. If you have not listened to WARBELL before, I would check this magic out. And if you have listened to them before, give their new album "Plague" a listen. I will include a link to a song to sample for your listening pleasure, you're welcome for the new addiction. m/ I am including a link to the song "Icaros", may all who partake in sacred medicines feel the magic song.
