War From A Harlots Mouth - Voyeur album cover

"Voyeur" is the fourth album by the German extreme Math Metal band WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH. The band while playing bombastic Metal infused also Jazz elements to its music and that gave them a very distinct sound. However these elements are absent from the current one but instead strings are used here and there.

The album is approximately 40 minutes long and the version that I have in my hands includes two bonus tracks. I think I will be really straightforward on this one. One of the things that really made me dislike this record is how the band sounds. It is not that the production is bad or something. On the contrary it is really good. But the band sounds so much like MESHUGGAH. And while they sound almost identical, the compositions have no much inspiration and I could barely find interest in them. Of course the band plays technical Metal so the songs are full of changes and constant variations. But I could hardly find any composition that could keep me long or any riff that could keep me listening to a specific song.

So to cut a long story short I was never a big fan of WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH but I always found ok their style and music. In "Voyeur" the band tries to evolve and sound very modern and complex but in my opinion somewhere in the way misses the point. I am sure that in the scene are a lot of bands that play way better and have better songs. Of course the fans of the bands should definitely check it, and those that are really too deep into this style but for me it is just a mediocre release.
