W.A.S.P. - ReIdolized (The Soundtrack to the Crimson Idol) album cover

Approximately 26 years ago, there was an album released from the Heavy Metal band W.A.S.P. titled "The Crimson Idol", it changed music history. This is the ultimate Heavy Metal album from 1992. Anyone and everyone who loved Heavy Metal had this album. Fast forward to 2018, a new album from W.A.S.P. is released and it brings great music with great memories along for the ride. The album is the soundtrack for the movie, "The Crimson Idol", it is titled "Re-Idolized The Soundtrack to The Crimson Idol".

After all the time that has past, this will find a home amongst us Metal Heads. Let's talk about the music. This being a double disk soundtrack makes it more relaxing to listen to. It is heavy and everything else rolled into beautifully made music from talented musicians.

The first disk is wonderfully produced which makes it a pleasure to the ears. The first track titled "The Titanic Overture" doesn't sink! It rises with an eerie beginning with beautiful guitar and good drums. Another song off the first CD to take note of is "Arena of Pleasure" this is the song that will make one cry. It goes from a soft beginning into all out Metal. The vocals are excellent and the guitar solo is superb. The song titled "Michael's Song" is one that needs to be heard by everyone. It is an instrumental with a bit somber in the beginning and a hauntingly good sound that makes one pay attention. Remember when sitting down and listening to vinyl was a thing, well this is the song for it. These times of sitting and just really listening is what needs to happen again. The song literally comes to a crashing end. Simply beautiful. "Doctor Rockter" ends the first disk. It isn't Doctor Who at all. It is loud and rocking. It comes in like a lion and leaves the same way. The guitars a great and so are the vocals. It's a good first disk from W.A.S.P. who have had a long and good career and continues to do so. The first disc sets up the second disk and after listening to the first disk it gets anyone excited for the second.

The second disk is just as rocking as the first. "The Idol" with the guitar beginning, is reminiscent of the great Metal music from the late seventies, early eighties, think JUDAS PRIEST and early AEROSMITH, and is just as beautiful music. The passion that comes through in the vocals will make one want more. The guitar solo is one of the best. Another song, "Hey Mama", is a song that pulls at the heart strings. This is a lovely well composed song that should be heard by all. "The Lost Boy" is a hard-driven guitar and drum song that is cut-throat in loud and heavy. This is Metal the way Metal is supposed to be. "Show Time" with an evil sounding voice that will haunt one's dreams. An evil way to end, but yet a beautiful way to go to the last song. The last song is titled "The Great Misconceptions of Me". A wonderful song that ends this journey of a great Metal band. The vocals are great, the guitars are beautiful, and it has some of the best guitar playing with great drumming. There are lovely vocals, like a cross between an angel and demon fighting to get out and be heard.

No matter who or what one does, this is an album that should be in any collection. It is well produced, well composed, and a very well thought out album from the first disk to the second disk. Each song brings another layer to a story that will make one cry and smile all at once. It is a journey, a story, and it is well told by talented musicians. Put the horns up and rock on!
