UNDER ATTACK was initially founded in Falkenberg, Sweden as a side project by ex-STYGGELSE members Björn Thorup and former guitarist/vocalist Gustaf Sundin. This was to be a fun hobby project to release a few tracks once in a while. As time passed and there were multiple changes of members and Björn was left as a sole member of the band, but in 2018 he met up with an old friend, Niklas Mattisson and played him a few tracks. This was the start of something good. The search for new members to form a full band started, but into the studio they went anyway and recorded a demo. Then, suddenly and fast as a shark; vocalist Lars Hietala joined in as a permanent member. After releasing four demo's between 2015 - 2019, the writing and recording of the first full length album entitled "Fury of the Thunder God" started (released May 22, 2023). The album was recorded together with session-drummer Martin Karlsson. The mastering process was finished and there was no time to waste. The search for a permanent drummer and bass-player is in motion. The band just started writing their second album and have set their sights set on getting out there and playing "live" shows.

Out of the gates with a thunderous riff and onslaught melody on "Torture's Too Kind" enhanced by barrage of meaty and nasty guitar shredding, all nicely bonded together with the harsh and brooding vocals of Lars Hietala and adding these blunt lyrics: All scum and filth overwhelming the streets All thieves and pigs put us all in a leach Molesters, rapists, abusers and scum Sentenced guilty, thy judgement to come No... Torture...Torture's too kind. A more subdued second offering on "Where the Axeman Laughs", with a capricious turn of melodic riffs and tone, and more mesmerizing vocals. The title track "Fury of the Thunder God" is one helluva of a statement song. Exploding with a bone crushing drum back beat that sets the tone for a definite "live" anthem song, with assaulting riffs and in-your-crotch vocals.

If I played drums or bass, I'd be standing in the audition line to UNDER ATTACK, this is a true, down and dirty heavy metal band with a bright future. There are moments of NWOBHM, mixed in with some blackened and sinister sounds. A lot of stellar guitar work throughout the entire album and the vocal stylings match perfectly, never overpowering or understated.
