UDO is a 5-Piece Traditional Heavy Metal band from Wuppertal, Germany. The name of Udo Disrkschneider is synonymous with Heavy Metal, there is no denying this. The guy is Heavy Metal through and through and he built an empire with ACCEPT in the early 1980's. He did however carve his own path when leaving the band to form UDO. He always did things his way, changing his band a lot and making it fresh each time. He does not have time for politics and crap, he wants the best sounding band he can and does not care if egos are hurt. He is a legend in this business barnone.

''We Are One'' is a collaborative effort with the official Concert Band of the German Armed Forces (Musikkorps der Bundeswehr) under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Christoph Scheibling. He recruited two former members of ACCEPT in Stefan Kaufmann and Peter Baltes for the songwriting process for this new opus. If you see the making of videos on YouTube, Udo Dirkschneider seems to be having so much fun with his former cohorts and it's good to see that the songwriting process was such a thrill for these guys. It does show in the quality of material that's for sure. When he is speaking about ''We are One'', he speaks about we are one world, one nation, one planet. We have a job to do to make Earth a better place for the future generations, he criticizes a lot of stuff in the lyrics of this album yet he speaks about the progress in numerous fields and good things happening on our planet. He speaks about the duality we all live in and the good and bad that is happening, what we can do to help out and that as a group, we are stronger than our individuality. It's a very thought provoking album and definitely will strike a chord.

That 60-Piece Orchestra makes it something beyond all imagination. We all know so many bands have associated themselves with orchestras and making albums (like METALLICA persay), it was something different at that time and it felt organic. I believe UDO wanted something different, something that will change the way we see music as a whole. This collaborative effort transcends anything that has been done before and extremely elaborate. Everything is times to perfection and it feels so grandiose. When you listen to those first notes, you are transported in something not quite magical but damn close. I know we have been flooded these last two decades with Rock and Metal bands joining forces with orchestras but this blows them out of the water. It feels totally real, it feels like an experience and not something forced by music producers.

UDO continues to surprise the Metal World with another fantastic release that breaks the boundaries of the genre and will be regarded as one the best albums of a legendary career, that is not even close to be done!
