This impressive five piece blackened death metal band emerged from Switzerland in 2013 and prior to this production have one EP and three albums under their belt. This EP which, given the content, is appropriately entitled “Symbiosis” and was released in April 2025. Stand out qualities include Deleze’s immense control of his vocals allowing him to move in and out of melodies without losing his harsh edge and roughness whilst his range from the tormented high screams of “Symphony of Pain” to the deepest brutal growling vocals of “The Reckoning part 2” is exceptional. The clever harmonics which are integrated into the soundscapes add unexpected beauty and complexity to the whole album. Overall the music feels to be a visceral reflection of a world in crisis and has the ability to evoke disquiet and angst through the exploration of deep unsettling themes.

The dramatic and powerful instrumental opening to “Pilgrimage of oneness” immediately captures your attention, draws you in, and envelopes you. Deleze’s harsh yet slightly melodic vocals convey philosophical ruminations around consciousness, the cosmos, seeking answers and oneness and they are entwined with an all encompassing harmonic soundscape which evokes feelings of awe. Both the musical elements and lyrics accurately convey the title’s meaning.  An introspective, subtly disquieting journey which makes you yearn to return to the track repeatedly.

“Symphony of pain” opens with melodic guitar harmonics, setting a melancholic tone. This haunting introduction acts as a precursor to the onslaught that follows: anguished, harsh vocals erupt as the rhythm section joins, loud, hard and fast. The drums unleash a torrent of hyper-speed blast beats, driving the intensity forward.  The atmosphere is relentless, spiraling downward into every deeper despair. Lyrically, the track is centered on the solitary battle of facing inner demons. As the chaos intensifies, the vocals morph into high-pitched tormented screams and hopeless wails before sinking back into the soundscape again. The pace then slows for “Haunted by truth” which through its soundscapes and lyrics powerfully communicates the pain of deception by someone who is trusted.

Next “The hubris of humanity part 1” is an immersive exploration of the catastrophic fallout of human arrogance.  Lyrics are dark with stark imagery of poisoned rivers and barren forests, forewarning of the sixth mass extinction. It exposes the relentless pursuit of power and progress at the planet’s expense. The pace intensifies for the closing track “The Reckoning part 2” as it hurtles toward the inevitable consequences of our actions.  Fast, aggressive and unrelenting, the brutal vocals and soundscape deliver a harrowing warning. Repetitive melodies and blast beats drive the tension forward, while extremely low guttural growls amplify the song’s sense of urgency and despair.

All in all a truly enjoyable listen with my personal favorites being “Pilgrimage of oneness” and “The Reckoning part 2”.
