Twisted Sister - Live At The Astoria album cover

TWISTED SISTER has released five studio albums (the latter condemned by the band itself) in the 80s - the time they were  studio active as a band - and from then on there has been a dozen (or more) of live albums, compilations, 'rare tracks' collections, re-recordings and DVDs. Naturally, I wonder why the do not try to write some new material? And then I know it's better they should not better attempt. Why? Maybe because we need the old-fashioned TWISTED SISTER we know amd witness in gigs like this one.
Live At The Astoria CD/DVD is not a 2008 recording. The pay-per-view(?) gig is from 2004 (August 1st), and who knows why the band decided to release it now. That's of minimum importance, of course, since a TWISTED SISTER gig shall nail you to the wall even if you witness it 100 years later. The slutty figure of Dee Snider (one of the most important figures in Hard Rock/Heavy Metal music) and Co. takes over and London's Astoria Theater is on fire to the sounds of endless motherfuckin' classics. The energy this band delivers is out of any question, placing them in the pantheon of must-see-live Rock acts. In an killer sound, full of pounding and frenzy riffing and Dee's raw throat, the only thing missing is some warm reaction by the crowd, but...OK...it's England....
Destroyer, Like A Knife In The Back, Ride To Live (Live To Ride), The Fire Still Burns belong to the quintet's 'obscure' songs that shall please 'core' fans. Else, enjoy the rockin' feeling of takes like in Shoot 'Em Down, You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll, We're Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock. Throughout the 90-minute set the traditional Ojeda/French couple rambles on in dirty riffs and nasty rockin' licks and Mendoza takes no prisoners (again) while torturing his four-string mistress. My post-80s opinion is A.J. Pero plays more than really needed but he's such a helluva skilled drummer that this ends to be more of a remark and less of a complain.
The camera shots are enough, the sound is excellent and - added to the demonic performance of TWISTED SISTER - the whole package is rather appealing. It's TWISTED fuckin' SISTER, for fuck's sake. Along MOTORHEAD, SAXON, MOTLEY CRUE etc, a 'satisfaction guaranteed' circus from the 80s that will fill your needs.

P.S.: There could be some bonus material listed over 'ere...
