Twist Of Fate was started around the summer of 1994. The founding members were, Tim “Ripper” Owens (Vocals), Nick Giannakos (Guitars), Dennis Hayes (Bass), Jeff Curenton (Drums). There was a four song demo recorded with this line-up. Shortly after the release of the demo, in 1995, Tim Owens was replaced with Greg Wagner on Vocals and a six song demo was recorded and released in 1996 using some of the same songs from the first demo. In 1997 the band changed singers again, adding vocalist John Stafford. At this time 12 more songs were recorded (compositions from the previous demos and several new ones). This could have been the band's debut album but for many reasons those recordings were never released to the public.

Alone” the opening track has galloping guitar riffs, with a strong rhythm accompaniment a modest start to this album. “Season Of Change” opens with big guitars & strong drums, but at times vocally seems a little strained at times, the guitar solo is immense towards the latter end of the track.”Once Again” is a slower but heavier has a heavier darker tempo but production and mastering wise does not sound that great when I play it back.”The American Way” and “Forever Mine” are also wall to wall heaviness melody wise but have lighter moments wedged in between the heavy parts which works pretty well.”Only When It Rains” the albums title track is just under 8 minutes long is an album highlight, which Nick Giannakos delivers some superb guitar moments. A powerful epic track. The deep thunderous bass from Dennis Hayes gets this track “White Crime” underway with prominent groove through out this shorter heavy laden track.”Two Arms” although another heavy track is just a mediocre track which didn't really go anywhere.”Above The Law” more upbeat, fast paced is a much better track than previous tracks “Red Skies” the last track on the album has some crunchy riffs from the first note, again some great guitar runs & rhythm but lacks energy and tempo.

Only When It Rains” left me feeling disappointed it started off very strongly but then ran out of steam. Some of the vocals were weak, there was some poor production & mastering, but there was a few good tracks between the bad & mediocre tracks. Not a great album for me but on a positive note Twist Of Fate finally get their music released 30 years after they began.
