Midnight Transmission
Transatlantic Radio

Transatlantic Radio founded by Swedish‑born bassist and producer Victor Brodén, the international AOR collective blends classic '80s melodic rock with a crisp, modern edge. Fronted by powerhouse vocalist Mattias Osbäck and featuring acclaimed guitarist R.J. Ronquillo, keyboardist Fred Kron and drummer Chris Reeve, the band fuses European finesse with American fire. Packed with soaring choruses, cinematic keys and polished, arena-ready hooks, "Midnight Transmission" is both a tribute to AOR's golden era and a bold statement of its continued vitality.
Since I heard Transatlantic Radio's debut single back in 2022 and the news that they had signed to Frontiers Music I have been eagerly awaiting their debut album.Coincidentally the album opens with the first single "That's What You Get (For Falling In Love)" which is a punchy, feel good summer vibed AOR track with a superb addictive catchy chorus,"City Of Angels" is another bouncy track, which flows effortlessly, great melody with some great guitar runs, with a strong melodic vocal. The heavier cut follows "Wide Awake" has more edgier guitar riffs & rhythm, the vocals have a more fierce delivery,Steve Brown of Trixter guests to deliver an impeccable guitar solo which all comes together to deliver a stomper of a track.Things take a more softer turn with the ballad "Fever Dreams" which is just pure AOR gold,an instant classic power ballad which back in the 80's would have been a huge smash, just like the greats Foreigner,Journey and Chicago had massive charts hits so would have Transatlantic Radio it's that good a track."The Good Times" & "First To Be Last" keep that high energy going, which this record has flowing through it in droves, fantastic guitar riffing & runs,a tight rhythm section with strong smooth vocals, with some exquisite keyboard touches.
"All For You" is a an arena filling AOR track, the chorus is massive, anthemic and powerful, one of the best tracks on this album."Against All Odds" is strong track which has elegant depth and emotion both vocally & musically. The album ends with "Born To Rise" which starts off keys led, before the guitars lead into another strong arena filling AOR anthem which has an air of Journey about it,especially the chorus,a strong ending to a strong debut album. "Midnight Transmission" has a definite nostalgic feel to it,there is no doubt about that. With a sound which will draw comparisons to classic bands such as Journey,Toto or Foreigner. With modern day production AOR will forever live on with new bands like Transatlantic Radio flying the flag with this superb debut, which I found to be an album to be worth waiting for.AOR of the highest quality,a definite highly recommended album for 2026.
