Torture Throne - Stench Of Innocence album cover

From the depths of nostalgic Normandy, France; hail TORTURE THRONE, with their latest EP "Stench of Innocence". Typical death metal, good guitars and drums, growling vocals...loud, fast and heavy.  I like death metal, I just wish I could understand the lyrics/vocals more.  At least I can pick out a few words here and there< that's what another thing I like about these Torture Throne (besides their name).

The first track, "Messiah" is an ominous little intro that is the calm before the maelstrom.  Track 2 "Arma Christi" comes off like a dump truck hauling gravel going way too fast and looking to run someone over and the next track "Morbid Wrath' doesn't let up either.

The title track "Stench of Innocence" begins as a dark, brooding, slow jam and resurfaces as some more great old school death metal, it has a great melodic solo in there as well, resonant of bands like AMORPHIS and DISMEMBER.

I think the song "Sempiternal Spear of Salvation" is one of my favourite tracks off the album. I really like the diversity of elements: fast and slow, a sweet guitar solo played over the first chorus area and then the drums drop out for some good riffage adding to the bad ass undertones. The final track on TORTURE THRONE'S new EP "Stench of Innocence" is just a grand finale barn burner, filled with guttural roars and blast beats.

I feel that "TORTURE THRONE'S new EP "Stench of Innocence" is really good on the whole and can't wait for their next release. It's typical old school death metal and I liken them to DEATH and CANNIBAL CORPSE. So if you are a fan of any of the above listed bands give these fellas from France a listen.
