Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth
Torn In Half
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: TORN IN HALF; signed via Redefining Darkness Records, hailing from the United States of America - performing Death Metal, on their debut EP entitled: "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth" (released March 1st, 2020).
Since formation in 2020; the quartet in question have only this here debut EP in their discography so far entitled: "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth". 4 tracks ranging at around 10:37; TORN IN HALF arrange an intricately designed formula of heavy-hitting Death Metal developments. "Animalistic Tendencies" starts things off; with somewhat a doomy vibe to it, until upscaling the momentum tenfold with a grunty yell & piledriving gnarliness...grinding into a barraged frenzy of uniquely versatile vehemence & bludgeoning adrenaline. Amplifying an adroitly consistent crunch of distorted bounciness, boisterous firepower & enriching trailblazing that revels with neckbreaking mayhem. Meticulously manifesting rawly rough virtuosity with quintessential pandemonium, ruthlessly showcasing groovy executions & a chaotic but frolicking gallop that romps up with vibrantly quirky snappiness...potently providing seamlessly sonic retribution that thunders with tight weightiness.
Consisting of Nick G on vocals; the frontman excels at a deep, guttural dynamic...implementing a furocious aesthetic of raspy pipes that growl into a throaty snarl of organic substance & shouty rage. "The False God" elements a concrete fretwork of rapidly swift nimbleness that solidifies this volatile tempo to it, forging punchy jumpiness & killer lacerations that shred with rip-roaring soars from guitarist Josh B. Creating complexly dextrous harmonies that unleashes outrè panache, rabid velocity & a healthy dose of rumbling trembles that gets heads banging in no time. Outbursting this hybrid dimension of relentlessly riveting droniness, drilling into a blast-beating systematic of tenacious tendancies which oozes out constructively distinguished calamities that trigger with profusely robust profanity.
"Lord Of Suffering" is the longest on the EP at a lengthy 3:21; opening up with a breif but cryptic interlude as it intensifies immeasurably with this complex craftsmanship ability and a distinct characteristic of rhythmic patterns, merging mid-tempo bass audibility from Andy G (also on guitars)...injecting an infectiously driven impact of thumpy malice, embellishing experimental hostility and a fluidly polished smack that will make anyone break chairs over other chairs! Offering this whiplashing savagery that supplies combustible bombast from battering drummer James S. An arsenal of slams armed to the brim; fuelled with rambunctiously pummelling blows, harnessing hasty strikes with a blistering variety of primitively raw roughness - punishing eardrums into a frantic free-for-all of salubriously subjugating rebellion.
Overall concluding this "B.I.B.L.E." (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) short EP with the bruising belter finisher: "Unholy Offering"; I am compelled to say that woah, what a brutal but headbanging enrichment embodying a fierce slab of solid severity. The sound production by Eric Sauter at Blackheart Sound surely produced something so sinister that your living carcass will mutate into an evolving berserker; hell-bent on unleashing total ruination like a hungry, battering ram - stampeding with full-force. TORN IN HALF have a incredible amount of replay value with this debut EP, certainly outdoing themselves without having any time to breathe with this upbeat malevolence of tormenting beatdowns in the most pleasing sense of the words. I enjoyed an entertaining discovery, as you will with this skull-smashing, boulder-crushing furnace of hell-raising mettle. Check it out!
