Tomorrow’s Rain

One thing I have to give the band credit for is the use of bass guitar and other instruments in many of the melodies. Their use of these elements creates a landscape of gloom. The album is a wonderful tale of love lost, regrets, death, and other things that remind you of the fragility of life.

In 2020, TOMORROW’s RAIN entered the worldwide scene with the debut album "Hollow," the album summed up the band's previous years working in the underground scene. "Ovdan" is the second chapter in Tomorrow's Rain unique journey, the material pushes the boundaries further yet keep the band's spirit. “Roads” is first. The slow, melancholy sounds and saxophone notes let you know what you are listening to. The clean vocals are loaded with sadness, and although I usually say that harsh vocals work better in this genre, the cleans work well, and there is a nice balance between weight and melody.

“Sunrise” is slow and deliberate, and the bass guitar is used nicely in the melody line. Harsh vocals roar in soon, reflecting the pain that they feel, as do the twin harmonic leads. “Room 124” is even more tortured. For me, it sounds like a room that is kept in solitary, so that when you are there, you are totally alone. The other possibility is that it is a room with horrible memories. “I Skuggornas Grav” has smooth and depressive tones, with whispered vocals, piano, bass, and strings. The clean female vocals add another layer to the music as well. “Burning Time” has more meat to it, with a full display of sonority, and everything is in its proper place here…guitars, bass, piano, and vocals.

“Convalescence” has some twin lead harmonies that for me are reminiscent of IRON MAIDEN. Greyness and gloom are still pushed hard in the sound, and the harsh vocal screams speak of anger and frustration. “Intensive Car Unit” closes the album, and it puts you right there, with beeping machines, and light but solemn conversations. One thing I have to give the band credit for is the use of bass guitar and other instruments in many of the melodies. Their use of these elements creates a landscape of gloom. The album is a wonderful tale of love lost, regrets, death, and other things that remind you of the fragility of life.
