Traveller Supplement 1 - The Ephemeral Glades
The Lord Weird Slough Feg

After 35 years and ten full-length studio albums, a live recording, a few splits and even a boxed set, these guys that currently reside in the San Francisco area of the USA have thought it time to come with their first EP. So, after some thirty five years I can attest that “Traveller Supplement 1 - The Ephemeral Glades” is not only quite a lengthy title by a band with a very strange name, but with seven songs lasting a little over 22 minutes it is indeed just that, an EP. But you will get the usual musical ingredients that THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG have always been dishing up to us as a captive audience. Good Old Fashioned Heavy Metal with a lot of Melody but also with a touch of Doom interwoven into their material. Take it or leave it.
THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG makes their music in a way that it will transport you back to the eighties, as their brand of Heavy Metal is heavily reliant on that era. Thankfully they have been able to update their production in such a manner that that hasn’t been stuck in the past. It is very contemporary, without losing the authentic retro feel that really sums up the sound of THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG. It won’t surprise you that the EP “Traveller Supplement 1 - The Ephemeral Glades” isn’t going to give you any new insights or musical discoveries, but it will emphasise that these guys always have been able to give you good music that is timeless, and that they have decided that they are not about to stop that trait with this EP.
What I do feel is that “Traveller Supplement 1 - The Ephemeral Glades” is leaning a bit more toward what GRAND MAGUS usual does, at least when it comes to the feel to it. In comparison with the earlier stuff of THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG the Doom part has been upped. The music is a bit heavier than most of the time, a little more solid, for lack of a better description. But what is a little disappointing is that none of the songs that have made it on this release are so good that my interest is being piqued excessively. No, it is all okay, but unfortunately that is also where it ends. Nothing more, nothing less. And I have to say that I was hoping for and expecting more.
