Face Me Now
The Great Alone

Alternative Power Rock duo, THE GREAT ALONE, released their sophomore album, Face Me Now, on June 20, 2025 via Pavement Entertainment. Fronted by vocalist Murielle, the band is an amalgamation of modern heavy rock, pop, and metal. This summer they’re on tour with label mates POWERMAN 5000 and although their soundscapes are distinctive from one another—THE GREAT ALONE being more melodic, sonically speaking, and more thoughtful, lyrically speaking—they do at times share some of the same punchy energy.
Face Me Know is filled with tracks that simply won’t be ignored. Tracks like “Face Me Now,” “Untamed,” and “Cross the Line” get in your face and dare you to walk away while others like “Persistence,” “Ghost,” “Dust” and “Blinded” just pin you down with their gut-wrenching pathos. Across the 11 tracks, Murielle’s clean vocals range from angelic and soaring to ferocious and spitting. Vincent’s guitar work, on the other hand, is a little less dynamic, leaning on the heavy, driving side. Not a bad thing, btw. In fact, in my book it’s preferred.
Best tracks include “Untamed,” which showcases the best of both Murielle and Vincent, with Mirielle positively raging and Vincint laying in some brutally, savage riffs; “Ghost” is impressive for exactly the opposite reasons—touching, melodic, and not a single riff; and “Scars” which ranges from introspective to Doom-laden and ultimately epic.
It’s tempting to say the star of THE GREAT ALONE is Murielle, but you can’t discount the fact that Vincent is pulling all the rest of it together. While I’m not a fan of all the electronica and synth peppered throughout, Vincent does make it work, using it to add atmosphere, steady the rhythm, and accelerate the tempo.
While THE GREAT ALONE isn’t necessarily metal, they are heavy, and they are good. They are also fighting the good fight, dealing with abrupt line-up changes, progressively tightening their sound, and getting more and more serious about their songwriting. THE GREAT ALONE, Face Me Now, definitely one to check out.
