Drive
The 69 Eyes

Recognized for being "goth meets rock and roll", THE 69 EYES sound has been noted by lead vocals Jyrki's melancholy singing layered over energetic guitar riffs reminiscent of the 80s for the past 30+ years. Their newest EP release without surprise- follows suit. Every track of this EP will put you right into the drivers seat of a Ford Thunderbird going 90 down a neon highway. The first track is "Drive"- which is highly reminiscent of Billy Idol's Rebel Yell. It's everything you love about catchy 80s hair metal with high velocity guitars and catchy verses.
The 80s feel follows on in the rest of the EP with "Call Me Snake" which has a darker, more gritty sound destined to be an intro song for some chaotic anti-hero; and to no surprise "California" that is exactly what you'd expect it to be. A tribute to the sunny state that's been cranked up with electric guitars and the picture painted desire of the "American Dream". If you picked this up on vinyl, you will also get a bonus live track of 2019's "Two Horns Up"- your archetypal "hailin' Satan through rock and roll" song complete with church bell intro and kicking drum beats. While this EP will have you wanting to grab your hair crimper and dance on the hood of a convertible, it feels like it's been done time and time again. Which if you are into the classics and want more songs for your arsenal, then you will love "Drive".
