TERRORVISION are a 4 piece band from Bradford, England who formed in 1987 as THE SPOILT BRATZ. In 1991, the band renamed the group TERRORVISION & at this time all of the band members were located in Bradford. Over the years there were a couple of changes in the line up. In early 2023 Chris Bussey joined the band as the new drummer. Along with original members Tony Wright, Mark Yates and bassist Leigh Marklew forming the current line up. On the 3rd of May 1993 the band released the debut album “Formaldehyde” And over the years a further 6 albums. Come September 20th 2024, the band released the 7th & newest album “We Are Not Robots” This album release was accompanied by a UK tour covering England & Scotland starting in London and ending in Glasgow. I attended the final show in Glasgow and can safely say the whole band put on an unforgettable show despite the fact that Tony was rather ill with the flu, he did not let it affect his performance. The tour had 9 venues & performances, 3 of which sold out prior to the gigs & release of the new album.

Starting the new album we have the song “Electrocuted.” This song kicks off the album with a catchy set of guitars, bass and drums which make you want to get up and dance. Tony’s crisp & sweet voice sings of being electrocuted and of vampires and zombies. The song gives you feel good vibes and sets you up for the rest of the album. Song number 2 is an amazingly well written & performed tribute to the late & great Lemmy. The song is called “The Night That Lemmy Died,” its one Lemmy would have been proud of if he was here to hear it. “Did you hear the news? We thought they’d lied, we could have wept, we almost cried with dignity & rebel pride that was the night that Lemmy died.” TERRORVISION toured with MOTORHEAD back in 1993, so in my opinion, there’s not a better band who could write a fitting tribute to such a metal legend.

Track number 4 “Baby Blue” is one of my personal favourites. It’s just such a banging tune! The music is so beautiful in this melody, (and the entire album,) the lyrics are deeply touching. Reminding Baby Blue that she is loved very much. The song gives me visions of 2 people making promises to each other & maybe time or some other factor causes Baby Blue to forget how loved she actually is. Song number 5 is an absolute topper! “You Gotta Want To Be Happy.” Such a positive song it just gets you thinking “do you know what guys? Your absolutely right! You gotta want to be happy cause life’s short & time is precious on this earth so… “You Gotta Want To Be Happy.” When your in a slump, perhaps even depressed, sometimes all it takes is your favourite music to pick you back up & this song certainly does help boost your mood! Again such a catchy rhythm with optimistic & upbeat lyrics that sends you into a happy state of mind. Song number 7 is called “Promises” and its a sweet little number I would like to dedicate to my ex boyfriend. Its a song about your partner promising they’ll always be there for you, they’re true to you but the whole time they’re lying to you & cheating on you giving you nothing but false promises. Probably a lot of TERRORVISION fans dedicating it to their ex’s I would imagine. Moving onto song number 10 of 12 we have “Bleecker Street.” The songs all about unity in Bleecker Street when times are hard & your feeling the struggle in life. You may just need a sympathetic friend & you’ll always find one on “Bleecker Street.” The new album “We Are Not Robots” closes with the song “Shine On.” Song number 12 “Shine On” is a funny number about a killer named Dwayne O’Malley who killed his granny for her money, in fact he was apparently quite prone to murdering anyone before their time. It’s a funny song to end what has to be TERRORVISION’s best album since the 1994 killer album “How To Make Friends & Influence People.” This new album shot into the UK’s top 10 albums in the charts at number 7, this only goes to reflect the brilliance of the new album.

Overall, “We Are Not Robots” is a terrific album which is both very well written & performed both in the studio & live on stage in an awe inspiring way. It’s definitely one of the best new albums to come out of the UK in a long time. The albums cover was designed by guitarist Mark Yates to resemble the captcha tests we all face when browsing the internet, which is rather ironic as it is a computer algorithm asking a human being to prove they are not a robot, I personally find this amusing. I spoke to Mark about the album design & he quoted me saying “I came up with the whole concept…. It’s basically a middle finger up at the modern world.” This has been his way of protesting our ever advancing technology for example artificial intelligence. To conclude, I would say TERRORVISION have written another top class album with the extra nice touch of selling a limited number of signed copies. Also an increasing rarity these days is that the new album has all the lyrics on the inside of the album sleeve. Nice touch guys! If your a life long fan like me or if you’ve just discovered TERRORVISION recently I’d highly recommend checking out the new album!
