SYSTEM ANNIHILATED's debut album, "Furor", is waiting to be unleashed for the masses' consumption March 18th on the less than optimistic named record label, Discouraged records. It will be a good day, for the gods of Metal will be pleased. This album fucking owns it, thankfully. I have been craving my way through a briar patch of bands lately that have seemed to be less focused on quality, more focused on their looks. You could get away with that back in the hair band days, but for self-described "modern Death Metal" bands to try and pull the same trick off? It's not working, and you're embarrassing the rest of us. Fucking stop it. Now.

That being said, I was floored by the metal that flowed through my speakers while listening to this album. Sweden has once again given us another band that can record an album that is well written, produced, intelligent, and mature in sound. Christoffer Jonsson's vocals are brutal and solid, without compromising the melody. Stand out tracks are "Furor" and "We All Stand Alone". The riffs and melodic work from Petter Adsten and Kalle Kjellberg's guitars are simply awesome. Their sound is guttural and classically death/hardcore. Viktor Kröger's bass gets to shine on more than one track, without losing the groove of the song, but for me, Joel Widengren Lundström' drum work is the highlight of the album. Mind numbingly brutal, almost hypnotic, you'll be unconsciously heading banging before you know it. Watch for these guys to do some killer work in the years to come.
