When you receiving a band's debut album for review and have not much info available, then -and that is true and unavoidable fact- you expect from the cover of the album to spit out all the info. In the case of SYRYM the cover made me not wanting to press "play". SYRYM's debut album is released by Hatrix Records and the band consists of two former members of BABYLON A.D, guitarist Ron Freschi, and drummer Jamey Pacheco.
As the cover is quite misleading, "Full Mouth Blues" kicks off and heals my anxiety. Instead of the Metalcore stuff that I was prepared to hear, SYRYM are moving 'round the melodic sleaze field. In most of the songs there are nice compositions and interesting guitar parts. However, it always happens that there is something missing. For example, in "Warpath" the content of the lyrics and the compositions allow and demand a more massive sound; the huge sound is actually absent. "Torn In Two" with its interesting guitar lines is having vocals that are soulless and extract a lot from the overall result. In general, this album is having quite a lot interesting lines to discover on the composition field, on the other hand there is always something that could be improved.
By no means have a listen to this album if it happens to fall in your hands, you will discover interesting melodies, so give it a try.
