For Those In Desperation

Founded in 2011, the German Melodic Death Metal band SYNDEMIC released a two song demo a year later and came to the attention of domestic label Remedy Records - as we now have a 10 track full length debut record. Bridging the lines between a conventional old school attack while incorporating a little bit of modern speed tricks and dynamic, atmospheric nuances, the quintet offer a sound that doesn't follow typical Gothenburg lines.
So imagine if you will a touch of older AMORPHIS and SENTENCED coming into headlong passages of EDGE OF SANITY or NIGHT IN GALES and that gives you a semblance of what to expect in terms of the arrangements and songwriting for this group. Occasionally the guitar play and tempos have a little bit of a Progressive jump - check out the slithering changes during the verses and instrumental sections of "Silent Wrath"- and at other times quieter, introspective atmospheric parts carry the mood, such as the clean guitar and slower drum accompaniment during the 3:27-5:00 section of the 7 minute plus "Progeny of Sorrow".
Vocalist Daniel Boretzky has a purely distinct extreme delivery, growling in the ENTOMBED / EDGE OF SANITY mold, occasionally adding in blackened screams for trailing emphasis on winning cuts like "Thought Labyrinth" and semi-blast, semi-death swinger "Abysmal Structures". "For Those in Desperation" works because SYNDEMIC aren't a prototypical Melodic Death Metal act, always swinging for the high pitch twin harmonies and instead looking for color and contrast when it comes to their chord/ riff choices.
SYNDEMIC illustrate the need for diversity in the Death Metal community, and as such should be a force to be reckoned with for a long, long time.
