SXWXP is a Southern Groove Metal band from Louisville, KY and these guys aren't joking about what kind of music they are making. They are heavy, groovy, Rock N' Roll and really energetic. It's with these mixtures that they have written and recorded their newest EP titled "Trans Am Jams" and that's what we are going to talk about.

The opening song of the album is the title track "Trans Am Jam" and it's basically the sound of a car turning on and then running fast. "Rising Tides" starts out with a cool groovy guitar riff that will make you bang your head as soon as it starts to sound. The vocals alternate from drive techniques to clean vocals and the chorus is catchy. There's a cool Rock N' Roll kind of guitar solo and it's a heavy song. "Closing Time" started out reminding me of the first riff of "Cowboys From Hell" by PANTERA and maybe it was what they wanted to do. Then some heavy groovy riffs hits in and it's a song to listen to while driving your Harley Davidson as fast as you can on the highway. The guitar solo on this one reminded me of Dimebag Darrel and Zakk Wylde.

The next song is "I Tried" and I must say that it seems to sound killer live. It has some cool guitar melodies and they kept the cool and heavy guitar riffs that they already showed how to do. The vocal lines of the stanzas are pretty cool and it's probably one of my favorite songs on this EP. There's also a vocal narration part that gave the song some different identity, which was pretty cool. Let's raise our "Cup Of Sorrow" and drink a little bit. This song starts out with a cool guitar lick and sound, it's the perfect song to share a drink with your mates and just fool around. It has some cool guitar work here and the drums and bass are really heavy.

"Fallen Angel" starts out with a cool acoustic steel string guitar and some clean vocals, but then it hits you up with the aggressiveness of their groovy guitar riffs, drive vocals and heavy bass n' drums work. It has a cool and catchy chorus melody and you will be probably banging your head and singing it out loud. Following the same vibe of the previous song "Drink Till I Die" starts out with cool acoustic guitar sound and some cool drums and bass in the background. It's a more complex song from the previous ones and I liked how the band can play different kind of sounds. But don't get fooled by it, after the narration part their heavy groovy kickass riffs hits in and still a great song.

The last song of the EP is "From Day 1" and it starts out heavy and with some cool guitar riffs completed by the lead guitar. The stanza is pretty cool and I must say that the bridge reminded me of SLIPKNOT.

SXWXP have written and recorded a good album. It has some cool songs, melodies and chorus. The instruments were really well executed and the songs are funny, heavy and tight. May you guys tour a lot!
