"Glimmering Veil" is the second album by SUPERSTATIC. This time the album isn't conceptual, it's based on works by Harlan Ellison, Wilhelm Hauff, Arthur Machen and others. Sound wise, the album is darker and heavier, moving closer towards Funeral Doom at times, away from the Black Metal influence of "Key to the Abyss". The album contains seven lengthy tracks.

"I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" opens the album, with heavy, slow guitar strikes and dissonance. The vocals are partly whispered, and partly harsh, and the weighted bass guitar notes reverberate underneath. Harrowing tones abound. It drags on, multiplying the feelings of desolation. "Mutabor" is another plodding track with eerie background sounds and some ambiance. It's a story of transformation from human to bird, with lyrics as "my arms have turned into wings, my face into a beak...and I can fly, my dream's fulfilled. I am no longer weak."

"House Dagoth" hears the dissonant sounds continue. It's a worshiping anthem of sorts, talking about a nameless "one" who is "awake" and "alive" and "is all things." The riff moves forward with impossibly slow timing, and the sounds of a faint heartbeat. The harrowing notes are dialed up a bit, complete with background chanting. "Edge" brings more torture to the table...opening female moans along with eerie and scary background notes, and lyrics that speak of nihilism and self-destruction. The end is near, and it's nothing worth seeing. "I Am the Doorway" talks about the horrors if witnessing the murder of a little boy, and how it stays with you forever. The music is brutally punishing, as are the vocals.

"The Rose Garden" begins with piano and hope, which is soon dashed by heavy rhythmic guitar and bass, with steady percussion. The lyrics deal with a female losing what she knows at the hand of a lover, re-shaping her world. Is this love lost or forlorn? It's hard to say, but according to the music, it paints a very bleak picture of life, despite the song title. "Remember Citadel" closes the album. The first few minutes feature dissonant guitar tones and desolation. The riff continues through the six-minute mark, then comes some ambiance and scary background tones. The riff returns, and time is drawn out like a blade through the ending.

This album is darker than a black hole, and scarier that your worst nightmare. The music matches the lyrics very well, which speak of some of the most abominable things one can witness and feel in their lifetime. It's Doom metal at its best...long, drawn out songs that gut you and leave you feeling hopeless.
