You have to credit SUPERCHUCKER for their raw and honest approach. However, when you start digging into the details, it can be quite difficult to see this band's appeal. Considering that they have supported the mighty RIOT CITY live, I was rather underwhelmed by their studio efforts on what is their second full-length album. The production of this album spoils it from the very beginning with the opening track "You". Despite a fairly tasty riff, the muddy production spoils any treats which might be in the music. The riffs throughout the album are clearly inspired by the likes of SAVATAGE which would be great if they had the same level of energy and a decent production to compliment them. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what's missing in the mix at times but it leaves a lot to be desired.

"You're To Blame" provides us with an annoyingly fast drum beat at the start, a drowned guitar solo in the middle and relief at the end once the song is over. I know that sounds brutal, but there's nothing else here that grabs my attention. "The Grand Return" is a slightly happier tale thankfully. Being a bit of a break in the album in terms of pace, the intro takes me back to W.A.S.P with their controversial late 90's album "KFD" for all the right reasons! It's eerie and yet soothing which is an interesting balance to be able to strike. This is definitely my favourite song on the album. Despite its lack of complexity, the song feels like it has much more purpose to it than the others.

The remaining tracks on the album don't provide anything unique to enjoy. They all bring strangely tasteless riffs that might sound better if it wasn't for the blurred production. "Living On Borrowed Time" is at least a nice way to end the album. A softer tune all round, Dave's vocals are pretty good through the calmer sections of this track. The bliss doesn't last though as the track is spoiled around halfway through by a weird riff that just doesn't suit the solemn atmosphere that the intro sets. Utterly disappointing as it could've been an epic song if they'd taken a little more care over the song writing.

Listening to this album is almost like watching a film at the cinema... except you're not watching it at the cinema; you're at home watching a poor recording of the film from the perspective of someone who filmed it in the cinema on their 15 year old video recorder. You know it would've been good if you'd paid for the experience, but instead you're left with this low-quality version which ruins the whole thing. I think there's hope for the future of SUPERCHUCKER, but they need to invest in a nicer production if they want to make it big.
