Summer Of Hate from Porto Portugal are an experimental shoegaze band that explores the boundaries of psychedelia,pop song and global music."Blood & Honey" are two contrasting sound explorations,which expand the musical lore of the band from Porto and it's spectrum of emotions,which in turn shapes the songs in the unique Summer Of Hate sound which is both epic and anthemic."Blood"  is the shoegazing language of global music,punk & danceable rhythms."Honey" which is an expansion of the shoegazing sound of the album debut broadening the lexicon of Portuguese Pop Music. 

I listened to this album totally oblivious to what I was expecting this album to be like musically.The opening track and title track "Blood & Honey" is an 8 minute long journey which is a trippy,breezy mellow and dreamy number with some subtle vocal tones."El Saif" is another trippy Garage Rock track."Ashura" is another musical direction change with a Tribal Post Punk sound,which is then followed by another 8 minute long number called "Mayura" with Laura Calado's seductive & hypnotic vocals,with some poetic moments musically and vocally a bit too tedious for my taste.The only track on the album I did like was "Joy" which reminds me of that 80's sound of New Order & Joy Division.The closing track "The Gospel (According To Summer Of Hate)" is the longest track which to my dismay is near the ten minute mark,starting with tranquility before gaining momentum.

"Blood & Honey" was definitely not my cup of tea at all.As a music lover I appreciate what Summer Of Hate were trying to achieve,but for me it lacked punch,that flow,energy and momentum to keep me interested.unfortunately a bit of an awkward listen for my taste.
