Black Metal exists in many forms and brings with it many sub-categories, each defining the genre musically and philosophically. The Slavs have had an amazing touch on the genre since the inception of legends such as DRUDKH, NOKTURNAL MORTUM, and not to forget, the underground demons DUB BUK. The region continues to release quality metal and in its inner circles, inspire Slavic pride and keep the ancient pride alive within the darkest genre Metal has ever known.
STRYVIGOR hail from Ukraine and have composed a fantastic extended play entitled "Into The Abyss Of Cold". With this short yet rejuvenating release the warriors craft a modern yet traditional Black Metal formula. The first four original tracks bring a clean, yet dirty and raw production that serves great musical purpose, accompanying some of the most neatly composed guitar riffs, near-perfect drums, and vocals that only shriek in a flow similar to the signature Slavic Black Metal style. The final track on this extended play is a reconstructed and polished cover of DARKTHRONE's "Under A Funeral Moon", adding an extra touch of Northern evil to this release.
"Into The Abyss Of Cold" is short and not much can be said about it musically, which only adds to the fact that this is a flawless Black Metal composition. When you're religiously devoted to this evil genre of Metal, you'll realize when something sounds like a perfect puzzle piece, and a great example of that is STRYVIGOR's recent EP. I recommend this to every fan of Black Metal. The Slavic touch to this genre never disappoints.
