Metal maniacs, rejoice! The Thrasher returns to present to you: STORMTROOPER, signed via Bristol Archive Records, hailing from England – performing Heavy Metal, and on their debut album entitled "Pride Before A Fall (The Lost Album)".

Since formation in 1976, the quintet in question has only 1 single behind them, "Pride Before A Fall / Comin' Home" (released in 1980). I'm acquainted with the extremely anticipated debut album - "Pride Before A Fall (The Lost Album)". The origin of NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) was a synonymous and utmost unique time for music that paved a way for the heaviest breed of genres of all time - METAL. STORMTROOPER began around the time the infamous, IRON MAIDEN, did; the resemblance to both quartets is pretty uncanny, in terms of musical differences from the 70s era, safely assuming that their influence started with them...the Paul Di'Anno era of the "Iron Maiden" & "Killers" records are the best comparison I can muster up. With an abundance of instrumental indifferences however, makes said band more unprecedented than you could imagine.

Consisting of powerhouse, Colin Bond, on bass/moog prodigy/moog taurus (you might be thinking, what the fuck is "moog"? (I did, they're synthesizers.), is probably the highlight of the band...the instrumental leaps are complex and concise with the rhythm - almost elementary in the Prog territory for creating that unparalleled experience.  Nick Hancox on drums, showcases enlightening essence of flair, in which contributes nicely to the sound production. Bob Starling on guitars, flies his fingers with leaping riffery and sound enjoyably solid; while Paul Merrel on vocals showcases similar, but more extensive, chords to that of the greats of 70s-80s Metal. "Pride Before A Fall" is a return to the past and an unprecedented discovery for those looking for IRON MAIDEN-esque indifferences. Comprising of 10 tracks ranging at around 55:51 elements at elegant dexterity, consistently contributing to the NWOBHM substance efficiently.

Right off the earphones - "Pride Before A Fall", "Battle Of The Eve", & "In The State In The City", immediately showcases enjoyable melodies of hard rock proficiency, and the immediate reaction I had to the Paul Di'Anno era of IRON MAIDEN comes in with full force here - setting the mood for the rest of the album. Brace yourself for the next track... "If It Takes A Man A Week To Walk A Fortnight Then How Long Is A Piece Of String", good Hell, the longest title ever? "Bounty Hunter", and "Still Comin' Home", feature galloping riffery with hints of RUSH elements to boot, with the Moog implementations in place, sounding stellar for uniqueness. "Drunken Women", "Confusion", & "After Battle", delivers more proggy slabs of unprecedented values that pretty much sound enlightening and phenomenal. "Stormtrooper (Heavy Heavy Compendulum DJ Mash Up)" simply extends the experience with the aforementioned and more.

Overall, "Pride Before A Fall (The Lost Album)" was worth listening to, if you're into progressive RUSH fused with powerful musicianship to that of IRON MAIDEN, STORMTROOPER will be right up your alley.<
