Taste
Stew
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: STEW; signed via Uprising! Records, hailing from Swedish grounds - performing Rock, on their sophomore album entitled: "Taste" (released 12.11.2021). Since formation in 2017; the trio in question have only released a self-released EP entitled "Hot" (released June 1st, 2018), and 2 Full-length albums in their discography so far: "People" (released October 11th, 2018) among this here 2nd album entitled: "Taste". 9 tracks ranging around 37:18; STEW arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Rock developments.
Opening up with this riveting yet rompy remedy; "Keep On Praying" revels with vibrantly potent melody, where rumbling reverb rampantly trembles with sturdy tightness & thuddy revs that thunder with rip-roaring tonality. A groovy articulate in execution rifts with yet sulfurous swings on trailblazing skyrockets among a harmonic heft of euphonic snares, throttling with distorted calamities on fuzzy chimes and concretely gritty rhythms that surge with monolithic tempo & stridently vivacious furore. "Still Got The Time" fabricates a funkier yet moniker pulse to it, as jumpy punchiness mellifluously manifests with this old school, rock 'n' roll fever as soaring riffs roar with empowering but instrumental blasts and bliss at the same time - STEW inputs fluid ingredients into the pot of swirling yet preaching tradition where snares of BLACK SABBATH-esque solos from consisting guitarist Nicklas Jansson swerves with strident technicality while progressive hooks inject an infectiously moody jingle to it.
Very organic stuff so far, as the outbursting yet upbeat substances here excel with profusely robust synergy within the wildly rushing yet cordial "You Don't Need Me" fuels a gripping momentum on hybrid experimentation while thumpy bass audibility flickers with shimmering rollicks and a borderline foundation on weighty haze implements dexterously dynamic virtuosity, somewhat salubriously volatile but also flamboyantly distinguished as distinctive vocals yell with shouty yet throaty roughness from high-pitched piper Markus Åsland. "Earthless Woman" injects a crunchy trippiness to it, as an enriching yet sublime & sanguine piercing that rattles with rolling shakes while an addictive cadence distills a chilling but also chiseling attribute archaically elements with synthetic cohesion. "All That I Need" also captivates with versatile vehemence and frolicking chugginess, as diligently detailed finesse that articulates with seamless revolution into a marvellous slab of solid swarve.
"Heavy Wings" also drives with overarching panache on outre tremolo picking, where crisp efficaciousness implements immersive crescendos that mount with systematic synergy on sophisticated jamboree that will rock your world. The sleazier "Strange In The City" belts a clobbering boundary on rambunctious piledriving persistency from hammering drummer Nicklas Dahlgren, who smashes the set with steely precision & psychedelic perseverance that jams with retro rock mobility with that modernized energy amongst a high-octane furocity, culminating an intriguing listen for sure. The penultimate epic "New Moon" examines more tingly yet heavy ethereality, as complexly effervescent buoyancy beats out sonic yet jazzy tones while unearthing spellbinding stability to boot - a bizarrely abrupt conclusion finalizes the record with the smooth transparency of "When Lights Go Out", which has a neat sounding solo near the end in which splendidly goes into blues-like fashion and cuts the track off without any fade or trigger - still grandiose and fun, however.
Bottom line; I am compelled to say that STEW served up an ambitious but enjoyably entertaining discovery that surely deserves a spin or two, worthy of playing should you need a fix of flexibly fundamental yet methodical strikes that pursue with meticulous vivacity - do check it out.
