Sinister Thing
Statement

“Sinister Thing” is the fifth album from Danish hard rock/metal band Statement. For the new album the band embark on a darker and heavier musical journey while staying true to their signature melodic sound. Lyrically, “Sinister Thing” is deeply personal, drawing inspiration from real-life experiences, opinions, and stories shared by friends and family. With “Sinister Thing”, Statement push their musical boundaries, offering fans an album that is both familiar and refreshingly bold.
The title track and opening track “Sinister Thing” is a modern metal track with melodic touches particularly in the chorus with the build up has a more heavy melody with heavy rhythm & guitar riffs with a nice guitar solo towards the end of the track.”The World Is Fading” is a lot more heavier than the opening track with its mid tempo pace, solid pounding drum beat accompanied by a heavy melody & fierce vocals, which results in a solid appealing track. Next up “Hive” & “Set My Anger Free” offer more of the same with the former having a heavy groove & a melodic chorus, with the latter a more fast paced tempo and with more energy, snarling aggressive vocals, but again keeping that melodic sound in the chorus.”No More Words” has a very solid dynamic heavy modern sound with another solid lighter sounding chorus.”Empty Eyes” has a more mellow beginning which makes me think that I'm going to get a ballad style track plus by the title of the song but much to my disappointment the track changes to a faster heavier paced track, just when I could have appreciated a change in pace.”Slowly Killing My Dreams” is the least heaviest track on the album with more melodic passages, but some heavier ones too.”Raised In Hell” & “My Last Goodbye” are again heavy & very intense with some great guitar solos.”A Right kind Of Love” finishes the album in a more melodic style track which ends the album in a similar vibe to how the album started.
“Sinister Thing” is a a solid release and I take my hat off to them for experimenting with a different musical path. For me they all sounded the same or had the same formula,I would have loved to see some diversity,or a more darker mellow ballad style track halfway through the album to break things up. However an album I would recommend checking out for sure!
