Nocturnal Racer
Stainless

Stainless were formed in Portland Oregon , with all past and present members of the band been active in the Pacific North West underground scene playing in bands such as Black Breath, Long Knife, Lebenden Toten, Halt, Bellicose Minds, Nightfell, Malikili and Ripper. Their first release which was self released on vinyl was the single “Snakebite/Too Hot To Steal”. This is now followed by the mini-album “Nocturnal Racer”. It was recorded by Evan Mersky at Red Lantern Studio, Portland, Oregon, throughout 2023/2024, produced by Jamie Byrum and mastered by Magnus Lindberg in Stockholm. The mini album was recorded by Larissa Cavacece (Vocals), Mira Sonnleitner (Bass), Joe Sugar (Drums) and Jamie Byrum (Guitar). Joe Sugar is no longer in the band and has been replaced by Terrica Catwood of the band Time R.
The opening track & title track “Nocturnal Racer” is fast ferocious in every way you get faced paced drums, thunderous bass line from Mira Sonnleitner with fast razor edge guitar riffs with aggressive snarling vocals, and sirens mid track!!! Its a short but sweet Heavy Metal track, at just under three minutes it makes an impact that's for sure a great track.. “Shot For Shot” is still heavy in nature but a slower tempo, it has solid rhythm, guitars riff with groove, with a great guitar solo from Jamie Byrum ,for me it has certain Motorhead traits and influences to the melody. ”Believer” picks up the pace again Larissa Cavacece making her presence know with her distinct growling tone to her vocal backed up by backing vocals, the track has some galloping riffs, Joe Sugar keeps the pace going with some fast thumping drums another great track. ”The Evil Lies” is a more subdued track compared to the other three tracks with more menacing vocals with a darker melody and feel to the track, with a change in musical direction.
“ Nocturnal Racer” is a short but sweet affair that shows what Stainless are made of what they are about ,their style and their sound. The four songs on this EP are very well delivered tracks ,with their obvious influences apparent .I love the fact it's a female fronted band with Larissa Cavacece delivering those great raspy and at time menacing & aggressive style vocals. Definitely worth a listen, highly recommended and hopefully a debut album will follow in the not too distant future.
