Hailing us from Bordeaux & Paris, France, this group of people founded SSANAHTES in 2013, carrying a message and placing it down in tunes of Post Metal, Sludge and Hardcore, yet highly based around Doom Metal. Taking shapes after many great bands such as PANTERA, EYE HATE GOD, ELECTRIC WIZARD, MESHUGGAH they released their self-titled EP in April, this year.
As they have noted - "Our debut EP comes in two different master:
- a loud master: a typical master you'll hear in nowadays metal productions. It's loud as fuck!
- a dynamic master: you want our music to be loud? crank the volume! This master is thought in the way of the old PANTERA's album. Why did we release two masters? Because we wanted to offer two different listening options." Lyrically bonded to hatred, sadness, sorrow and enviness, war and battles, they give us a hard to swallow words, yet packed with a common sense.
Firstly, I must say a thing or two maybe; I am not a person who will judge things he cannot understand, I will never let ignorance to shape me, my words nor my deeds; I am saying all of this because I am not quite sure I can 'dig' the point of these lads, cannot fairly see behind the masks, so I will be as professional as I can and say my opinion about the lay, the fusion and in some moments ecstasy, yet again there are moments where I have lost my track in amount of strangeness. Then, I, by this occasion, want to send greetings to SSANAHTES for all of the help they managed to send me and being opened to discuss any issues - a great quality bands should have.
So, starting off with an instrumental song - "Blue Druidess"; a lay about a girl, I think that's enough o say. Second one in the playlist "The Edge" is something deepfully hard to understand. Maybe it is because this song is about a man narrowing himself into a hate and enviness. Now and then there are moments of utter pleasure and common metal sound, but overall it is a desolation of trivial knowledge, something unseen and hard to focus on. "Black Dragon" and "Words" both of them sound much alike to me, maybe because I am not used this, even though I am a fan of Post Black Metal, a huge fan of lots of Post Metal subs, I find this hard to follow and the clarity is fogged and almost vanished.
Talking about the concept and musician within this manifest I could say they are not something you'll hear every now and then, you will not feel the impetus of limited chapters; there isn't much of a pattern, it's like there's 1001 piece of a puzzle you need to put together, a huge maze. I only can submit one song, and it's the opening one - the form, the path, enter point and exit, a well made chat with all scapes willingly opened; a top mark of this EP - "Blue Druidess".
