SPYDER BYTE is a British band that was formed in 2011 and since then the musicians have been creating energetic and powerful music. The band just released their newest album titled "When The Light Go Out" and that's what we are going to talk about.
The opening song "New Blood" starts out with a kind of Thrash Metal guitar riff that is soon followed by some vocals that reminded me a little bit of Bon Scott but a little more aggressive. This song is pure energy and you will start banging your head as soon as it starts to sound. The vocal lines from the chorus are good and easy to sing. Did you see her "Nocturnal Beauty" is the next song and starts out with a very cool guitar riff and some high pitch vocals. This song has a Hard Rock vibe on it and it sounds great. There's also a different vocal on the bridge and it's supported by some guitar melodies.
"Tonight (Get Wild)" starts with some cool guitar riffs followed by heavy bass n' drums and I think this is a great live song as it has some different dynamic and the cool flange guitar pedal effect. This song reminded me of the 80's Hard Rock bands and it sounds a little bit different from the previous songs. The next song is "Boneshaker" and I liked how the guitar duet starts the song as it reminded me a little bit of Paul Di'Anno era of IRON MAIDEN. This song has a little bit of a Power Metal vein and its cool to see that these guys can write any kind of music they want and still sound like their own sound. The vocal lines from the stanza and chorus are really good and you will start banging your head while singing as soon as it starts to sound.
"Vixen" starts out with a police siren and radio on the background and there's a dancing guitar riff as well. The vocals are good and the guitar work here was really good. This song has probably one of the best chorus from the album and it's just powerful and great. It's a great song and one of my favorites from the work. There's a cool guitar solo on this one. Don't be a "Shameless Star" it starts with cool guitar riffs and it totally has the 80's vibe. "Rockabilly Betty" starts with a cool bass drum sound while the vocals join in singing a cool line. The bass here is really heavy and high, I think it should sound like that on the whole album as it gave the song more power and heaviness. The guitar solo on this song is probably one of the best on the whole album and the highlight goes to the bassist that played some cool bass solo.
"Spark" starts with traditional Heavy Metal and Hard Rock guitar riffs. This song is pure heaviness and there's a cool chorus as well. "Hopeless" starts with a groovy guitar riff where it's possible to listen better to the bass sound. This song is energetic and has a lot of power. The melody from the bridge is good and the chorus has a cool sound. The next song is "Reach Out" and to me its the most different song on the whole album as it sounds more modern and differs from the 80's sounds the previous ones has. The guitar riff from the beginning is awesome and its spirited song, the vocals here are melodic but aggressive in a way, I think its cool. The bass sounds heavy and the drums too.
The song that closes the album is "Black Velvet Love" and it starts out sounding like a Hard Rock song with great guitar riffs. This song will make you feel like drinking Jack Daniel's and buy a guitar and start a band. It's a kickass song with a great chorus and you will start singing it as soon as it starts to sound. There's a cool part where the bass plays the lines and the vocals do a narration. There's a cool guitar solo here and its probably the best and complex on the album.
SPYDER BYTE have written and recorded a good album and even though I have arachnophobia, I still think that they sound great. The execution of each instrument was really well done and the production, mixing and mastering was good as well. They can play like the 80's, they can play modern and it doesn't matter because they still sound like their identity. I hope they tour a lot because they deserve it.
