Spektra are back with their sophomore album “Hypnotised” the follow up to their debut album “Overload” which was released in 2021 to glowing reviews worldwide, which was produced by legend Jeff Scott Soto. This time around the album is produced by the band. BJ on vocals is well respected in Brazil for his great vocal abilities, his work with Tempestt and also other projects & collaborations, internationally BJ has been a member of all Jeff Scott Soto's bands and projects as a guitarist and on backing vocals, but on keyboard duties with Talisman. Joining him with 25 years experience is Leo Mancini on guitar, Edu Cominato with a rich history of collaborations ,with the band completed with experienced session player Henrique Canale on bass. In Spektra every band member contributes to the bands tapestry, also creating a musical synergy that stamps the bands name on the melodic rock scene.

I thought Spektra's debut album was one of the best albums of 2021,so I was really excited & really looking forward to the follow up. The album opener “Freefall” (the first single) is just superb smooth AOR/melodic rock, the infectious synths hooks from the off , crystal clear vocals , with a slightly heavier guitar riff which compliments the melody. This sets the tone for the whole album there is track after track of melodic rock gold “Taste Of Heaven”, ”Search For More “ are just fantastic examples of how a melodic rock album should sound, how it should be delivered addictive melodies, world class vocals which would fill a stadium an arena or be heard on the radio anywhere in the world. “Our Time Is Now” is a huge power ballad with fantastic vocals from BJ, with a jaw dropping guitar solo, a track which has hit written all over it, in another decade would have been a smash hit. With “Hypnotized” that's what you get though nostalgia ,the title track has that Winger influenced sound melodic with heavier riffs. ”Tonight “ another great track with that classic Foreigner/Survivor sound, with Spektra having that great craft & formula for writing great songs, hooks & addictive choruses. “Time Around Us” and “Running Out Of Time” slightly edgier than previous tracks, but still melodic at the same time. ”Different Me Outside” an acoustic ballad brings the album to an end which has great vocal harmonies, which then breaks into a powerful guitar solo and ending with powerful, emotional and flawless vocals.

Spektra “Hypnotised” is a superb album, It is pure AOR/Melodic rock gold. Every track is as strong as the previous track, there is no weak tracks on this album. Everything is just perfection whether it's the vocals, backing vocals ,musicianship or the production. As a band Specktra have got the right formula & sound to become legends in their craft ,This is one of my top 10 albums of the year which I highly recommend if you love melodic rock
