Sparzanza - Circle album cover

You know, whenever I get sent anything to listen to from a band that comes from Sweden, I immediately begin to think about just how good it will be. Why? Sweden is a country that has helped to produce some phenomenal music talent over the years. Sure there are some exceptions to that rule as some are worse then others but overall, it's a great country that has helped to produce some amazing Rock and Metal bands. One of those is a band that goes by the name of SPARZANA and their newest album "Circle" will be the focus of this review.

Formed in 1996 in their hometown of Karlsdat in Sweden, SPARZANZA are a quintet that classify their music as Metal and Hard Rock which already scores them points as those two genres together can produce something pretty awesome. In 2001, the band released their debut album "Angels of Vengeance" and since then, they have released a total of four demos, three split albums, seven singles and seven studio albums with "Circle" being the newest one released in 2014 on Spinefarm Records.

The album clocks in at 37 minutes over 11 tracks beginning with an instrumental "Bradycardia" before launching into the first vocal track called "Pine Barrens" followed by 9 more Rock and Metal songs and if you expected them to sound exactly like the fusion of Metal and Hard Rock should then you will not be disappointed.

Where shall we begin? For one thing there is a lot of punch in the music as it sounds very heavy and there's plenty of in your face balls to the wall fun to be had with this album including a few in your face rock tracks such as the single "Underneath My Skin", "Breathe", "Enemy Of My Enemy", "Black", the closing track "Do What Thou Wilt" and a couple of powerful and melodic slowed down songs including "Into the Unknown" and "As I Go Away".

So far this album is stacking up well and there's another thing it does quite well. What's that you may ask? It's the continual flow of music as the moment one song ends, the next one begins right away meaning the music never ends and if the album is good, then that is always a good thing. The only thing that may seem a bit off  at times is the vocals which may sound like they belong more in a Thrash Metal band in a few places, BUT, the delivery is so strong and so powerful, it does not really matter that much as the delivery of the vocals combined with the delivery of the music makes up for it.

So, is this another worthy release from a country that has produced some great Rock and Metal talent or is this an embarrassment to those great bands from a great country? Well for one thing, it's not an embarrassment. What it is, is an album from a band that deserve a place in the Swedish Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside lots of other great musical talents to come from Sweden. From the opening track to the last with lots of great songs in between, "Circle" by SPARZANZA is a great addition to a Rock and Metal fans music collection especially if they love music from Sweden.
