SOUTH HAVEN is a Heavy Rock band out of Denmark. This is the fruit of the labor of three long years of work with some of the best producers in Denmark including Jacob Hansen and Martin Pagaard that have worked with the VOLBEAT heavyweights. I guess they have pretty much a headstart on things, but good production does not mean something good. You can have the best writers and producers in all the land, but you have to deliver the final product on your end.

I could not gather much information on the band to be perfectly honest. There isn't much information on their Facebook page though, but I tried to grab bits and pieces of information here and there to know a bit about the band itself. I know some people consider this band as a record label group, something that was predetermined in a sense. They wanted some people and they made a band, the band seems to be like puppets. I don't know if it's true or not and I am going to review this album the way I always do nonetheless.

At first glance, this band does remind me of EVANESCENCE, the more commercial-based Gothic Metal. I did however think it was a bit too overproduced and especially the first single of the album called ''Dancing in Nightmares''. I almost thought I was listening to ''Bring Me to Life'' without the majestic voice of Amy Lee mixed with those rapping metal that we all hated back in the day. As for the first single, you have dual vocalists like on the rest of the album but you can clearly see the difference in talent in range. Christine Nielsen has a lot of charisma and presence but Angel Jemegbe just doesn't stand out at all. Her voice is just there, nothing remarkable to be honest.

Most songs follow the same pattern and the songs are quite interchangeable and that's a big knock to the quality of the album. I guess that nothing really stands on its own like it should. I felt the album was quite repetitive and after three years of hard work, this is what we get? I felt really disappointed and from what I read, it felt promising but it sure as hell wasn't.

I enjoyed the cover art, that was some fine work and was bit like something form Altered Carbon or The Expanse, those types of science-fiction shows. The artist did a fine job, I don't know who it was but it was a really nice touch honestly. The production is top notch but like I said beforehand, you may have the tools of the trade and make the best album possible, if you don't have the right musicians, you ain't going nowhere. If you like basic Goth Hard Rock with a Metal edge, you might enjoy this but I didn't like it that much.
