SOULSHAKER is a Brazilian Hard Rock band from the city of Salvador, that started it career in 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic started. They have released their first album "Deadly Nights" on last December and that is what we are going to talk about.
The opening track from the album is "What Do You Say?" and it starts with a nice Rock N' Roll guitar riff, some drumming and that's it. The vocals comes in right after and they are pretty good and kinda reminded me of Vince Neil and Axl Rose in some notes. Nice song. "Getaway" starts with a great guitar riff and groove that will make you bang your head and dance. The guitar tone here sounds a little bit different than the first song, and I must say that it is a hell of a nice song.
"Travelling Man" starts with a choir and then the traditional Hard Rock guitar riffs that was immortalized in the 1980's comes in. The vocal lines are pretty traditional as well, but don't think that it is a bad thing... it feels like the 1980's. "All Night Long" starts with a single guitar playing a nice riff and there's a sound in the background that I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not, but anyway. The vocals here are different, a little higher than the previous songs.
"Take It All" starts with a overdrive guitar, drums and some lower vocals - it is kind of a ballad. The chorus is pretty nice and I think that people are going to like it. "Loud n' Screaming" gets back the Hard Rock riffs and simple but cool bass and drums kitchen. The vocals are more dynamic here, changing from low, medium to high tones.
"Rock n' Roll Queen" starts with a groovy guitar riff and some more interesting drums. It is a nice song, but I think that there could be something more powerful in the vocal lines from the chorus and It feels that there is something out of tune.
The last song is "Father Time" the first real ballad of the album. It starts with a nice acoustic steel string guitar, but there are some echoes in the vocals that made it sound weird and a little bit bothering to listen. I don't know what idea was, but it just didn't work out fine.
SOULSHAKER have written and released their first album very fast, and I must say that they have a lot of potential to keep the band going and growing each more. There were a few details on the recording that I did not understand, and it made the listening a little bit bad at some points, but in a general way it is a good Hard Rock album.
