Of course being a huge PRIMAL FEAR fan I wanted to review this as soon as I heard Ralf was making a guest appearance and the infamous Sister Mary from Operation: Mindcrime had the lead vocals only sealed the deal. What made it interesting even further was that it was put together by CDInzane owner Zane Petersen, who I didn't know played drums as well. Oh, did I mention there are also members from DOKKEN, SPREAD EAGLE, and STEVE VAI?
I found it funny that the intro track has a phone call in it just like on Mindcrime. Then the first real track is a straigh up hard rocker that Pamela totally owns. It is a very upbeat track, reminscient of an old hard Rock or AOR. The next one features Scheepers and it is more modern sounding. One thing I noticed about Ralf's performance is that he pretty much stays only in his most upper vocal register, which is kinda annoying since he has mid range that sounds great and would probably fit the music a bit better. Alex lays down some sweet guitar licks in this track including a awesome old school solo.
Where Are You Running reminds me of a HEART track I think, though I can't put my finger on which one. Pamela takes a cue from Ralf and sounds like she is trying to stay in her most upper register except when she uses the vocal effect. This track is more melodic and has much more of a radio friendly feel. The next one is a ballad duet with Ralf and Pamela, here Ralf uses a lower vocal tone a and sounds great actually really fucking great. Moment Of Truth kicks it back into gear and is probably my favorite track from the album. It just overall the most solid out of the all the album tracks from the semi-crunchy guitar sound to Pamela pulling off her best performance on the album. The same energy level transfers to the next track Woman In Love as well. The final two cuts on the album are good tracks, but they could have been better.
I think for a first attempt at a project like this for Zane and company did a damn good job. I would recommend this any fan of HEART or fans of old school AOR-esque stuff. I look forward to any future outputs that since I can definitely hear some room for improvement, but what is present is still pretty solid.
