Sign Of The Wolf
Sign Of The Wolf

Sign Of The Wolf the debut album is the vision of Bruce Mee of Fireworks Magazine. Bruce's aim was to bring back the glorious epic melodic sound from the late 1970;s & early 1980's from bands like Dio and Rainbow which is how Bruce found his love for this genre, but he also wanted to include some of the musicians from those bands or musicians who played in those bands at some point. Sign Of The Wolf features amongst others former Rainbow keyboards wizard Tony Carey, ex-Dio, Sabbath drummer Vinnie Appice, bassist Chuck Wright (Quiet Riot, House of Lords), guitarist Doug Aldrich (Dio, Whitesnake), Lionheart & MSG’s Steve Mann and Touch’s keyboard player Mark Mangold. Then on vocals Last In Line’s Andrew Freeman and Mark Boals on backing vocals. Also, Fredrik Folkare (Eclipse, Nordic Union) who co-wrote most of the songs with Bruce Mee.
“The Last Unicorn” starts with an atmospheric and mystical intro which launches into a full on guitar & keyboard face off, with pounding rhythm and melody, strong vocals from Freeman,a smouldering guitar solo,a stellar opening track.”Arbeit Mact Freit” is German for “Work Sets You Free” is a fast tempo, high energy rocker which could have easily been a track on Dio's “Holy Diver” complete with fret board wizardry from Doug Aldrich. “Still Me” has some modern elements to the melody but the guitar riffs & killer chorus give that classic Rainbow magic touch.”Silent Killer” is a killer track with all those classic early Heavy Metal hallmarks, the lyrics, the melody & chorus plus the delivery are superb.”Rainbows End” is another high quality offering with a strong melodic chorus,a track which is an instant classic. Tony Carey's keyboard work at the start of “Rage Of Angels” is magnificent, along with again superb vocals and guitar work make you feel like you are really back in the early 80's.”Murder At Midnight” another superb track of high quality,”Bouncing Betty” although it is a great track,it didn't grab me as much as the others.”The title track brings the album to end in superb style an epic track at just under 7min 30s with Andrew Freeman sounding very much like Tony Martin.
Sign Of The Wolf is an album of the highest quality just look at the line up of musicians involved in bringing this album together. Bruce Mee has succeeded in his mission to bring back that late 70's and early 80's sound with nine great tracks, great lyrics and musicianship & production paying homage to the likes of Dio,Sabbath and Rainbow .All those fans of classic albums like “Holy Diver”,”Rainbow Rising” and “Heaven And Hell” will absolutely love this album which shows the magic first heard in the 70's and early 80's still lives on in 2025.
